AR Rahman's Next 99 Songs
Box Office India was the first to tell you that composer-turned-producer AR Rahman had signed the multi-talented Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy to direct his home production YM Movies' first film. Last year, the makers were finalising the draft of the script and now we hear it is a music-based film. We also hear the film has been titled 99 Songs and the makers are currently looking for fresh faces to cast. Of course, the composer has already started composing some mind-blowing numbers for his home production.
Bazmee-Abraham Again
Anees Bazmee and John Abraham developed a special bond while shooting Welcome Back. And while shooting, the director who is also an ace writer, shared a few ideas with Abraham. It seems Abraham was so impressed with one of them, a comedy, that he has asked Bazmee to work on it. Now that Welcome Back will release at the end of the year and the post-production is also almost complete, Bazmee has started working on the comedy script. Bazmee confirms, "Yes, I had shared an idea with John and he loved it. I am currently working on the script and once I finish it and get his dates, we will start rolling. It's an out-and-out comedy."
Sadh In Chhalang
A few weeks ago, we told you that Shivam Nair had signed Amit Sadh for a biopic and that the film is based on a real incident - a Nagpur boy who was handicapped and had climbed Mount Everest. We heard that the film has been titled Chhalang and will start rolling next year, once the trek is open at the Everest base camp. We're also told that the director has asked the actor to start prepping for it because he will actually trek up Everest with the Nagpur boy next year.
Here's an equally dramatic tidbit - the announcement of the film will be made from the Everest base camp. This will be the first time someone will be scaling the world's tallest mountain to make a Hindi film!
Irrfan Is Too Busy
Irrfan is truly an international star. While his recently released film Jurassic World is doing humongous business across the world, he also started shooting for Dan Brown's Inferno in Budapest. We also hear he is being offered many Hollywood films and TV series but has turned down many of them due to his packed schedule. The actor was recently offered the television series True Detective but he might say no to this project as well, as it will require him to spend a long time in the US.
Is Dosanjh A New Favourite?
Akshay Kumar is a music lover and that is abundantly clear from all his films. The actor has, in fact, worked with many Punjabi singers and composers. Kumar also brought the famous band RDB to India with Namastey London (Rafta rafta). In fact, they worked in four of his films. Post RDB, Kumar worked with another Punjabi superstar Yo Yo Honey Singh in many films. And now, it appears, he has found another Punjabi talent. Yes, we are talking about Diljit Dosanjh, who is also making his Bollywood acting debut with Udta Punjab. The world-famous singer will be crooning in Kumar's Singh Is Bliing. If the song becomes a hit, we know the two of them will work together on many more.
Puli Teaser To Release
After making a bumper comeback with English Vinglish in Gauri Shinde's directorial debut, Sridevi will be seen in Puli, a bilingual film opposite South superstar Vijay. Directed by Chimbu Deven, it's a fantasy film. We now hear that the makers have decided to release the teaser on actor Vijay's birthday, June 22. A big launch prep is underway for the film!
Pradeep Sarkar's Next
After the success of Mardaani, Pradeep Sarkar has decided to helm his next project a little early. By early', we mean Sarkar will start the film earlier than usual, considering the gap he usually maintains between films. Yes, we hear that the director has finalised his script and soon start casting for his next film, another women-oriented film. This time Sarkar and producer Aditya Chopra have decided to go with the younger bunch of actresses. Let's see who will get lucky!
Apoorva Lakhia Is Back
After the debacle of Zanjeer, we hear that Apoorva Lakhia is gearing up for his next film, and this time he wants to play safe. The director, who has always made commercial action films, has decided to make a content-driven film. The movie is based on a human drama with a message and will be set in a total unusual world. We also hear that the director is talking to some leading actors.
