Actor Sanjay Dutt, convicted in the Mumbai serial blasts case, has again made an application to the divisional commissioner for a 30-day parole.
The 55-year-old actor is in jail since January this year, when he returned from a furlough granted to him. Senior officials from the office of divisional commissioner confirmed they had received Sanjay Dutt's parole application and it was being processed.
Since May 2013, Sanjay Dutt has been serving the remaining 42 months of his five-year sentence for illegal possession of arms in a case related to the 1993 serial blasts, in which over 250 people were killed and several wounded.
He had served 18 months of his five-year jail term in the past in 2007-08. From May 2013 to May 2014, he had spent over 118 days out either on parole or furlough, which was questioned by social organisations which alleged that the government had moved swiftly for granting jail leaves to Sanjay Dutt as compared to others.

Actor Sanjay Dutt, presently imprisoned in the 1993 Mumbai Blasts case, has sought another month-long parole.

Dutt has reportedly filed an application with the divisional commissioner for a 30-day parole. According to the officials from the office of the divisional commissioner the application is being processed and no decision has been taken yet.

In the past, Sanjay Dutt has courted much attention and controversy over repeated paroles from his 5-year prison sentence.

Since Dutt had served 18 months in prison during the trial, he is now supposed to serve the remaining three-and-a-half years behind bars in Yerwada Prison of Pune.

Sanjay Dutt was imprisoned in May 2013 but since then he has spent about 118 days outside the prison on parole or furlough. This has made many activists question the legal process behind the granting of repeated paroles to Dutt.

Meanwhile, Dutt is said to be following a strict fitness routine in the prison. His wife Manyata Dutt recently told a leading daily that there is a likelihood of Sanjay Dutt walking out of prison by the end of 2015.

Last time, when Dutt came out on parole, he happily flaunted his abs to the media. He even enjoyed a screening of the movie PK'.
