Remo D'Souza's ABCD - Any Body Can Dance - 2 has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U' certificate with just one verbal cut. The line "All Indians are beggars" has been cut out. Otherwise not a shot has been touched.
Says a source from the Censor Board, "We were mesmerised by Varun Dhawan, Shradha Kapoor and Prabhu Dheva's dancing. The film is clean family fare. We all felt there was no reason to not give the film a U' certification. However, one line had to go - "Indians are full of beggars." It referred to Indians in a derogatory manner. Censor guidelines specify that no utterances insulting any nationality or community must be allowed." The line was then replaced with "You guys are such beggars."
Remo sounded pleased with the censor certification though displeased that the film's release date wasn't pre-poned by a day to June 18. "I was in Dubai this week. They're happy that our film opens on June 18 in Dubai. However I am yet to convince my producers to release the film on June 18 instead of June 19 in India. My Muslim friends in India are not too happy with this release date as the holy month of Ramzan starts on this date."
