Chapter 4

Next Morning it was already 12 pm when Manik came out of his bedroom. He saw all the arrangements was of yellow which clearly means that today was Nandini's Mehndi.Manik saw everyone running here and there,doing the arrangements. At one corner he saw his Mama sitting with Anjali,gossiping, he went towards them and greeted both the ladies.And after telling his Mama that he is going to explore Manglore he took his car and went out.

After visiting a lot of places he noticed that it was 7 of evening. So he became succeeded in spending a lot of time staying away from Nandini. And on the other hand Nandini was happy that Manik was not in the house as it was very difficult for her to explain everything to Mayank.

Nandini got ready and her friends brought her down in the hall and made her sit on the decorated swing. Nandini slowly lifted her eyes and saw Manik staring her he was wearing a white kurta and was looking dashing as always she immediately lowered her gaze. Manik was dumbstruck on his place. She was looking breathtakingly beautiful. Just like a fairy. He had never ever seen such a beauty in his whole life. Even Alya was nothing in front of her.Nayonika called Manik for some work and he went with her.

Beautician was applying mehndi on her hands when she was about to ask Nandini the name of her husband she heard her talking to Navya about Manik.She herself assumed that Nandini's husband's name must be Manik as she was talking about him and she wrote Manik on her hands. After talking to Navya Nandini noticed her Mehndi when she saw Manik's name on her hand she became shocked.

"What the hell..?? My husband's name is Mayank...Why you wrote Manik?? Are you crazy?" Nandini fumed with anger.

"Sorry Mam...!! You and your friend were talking about Manik so I thought...!!" Beautician said confusingly.

"Ufff...!! Just get lost..!!" And the beautician left.

"Aiyaapa Now what..?? What will I say to Mayank...Hyee...!! And what if someone else will see this..!!??" She quickly hide her mehndi in her duppata and tell everyone that she is tired and going to take rest. And she rushed towards her room. No one objected on her excuse because tomorrow was her big day.

Manik became suspicious on her behavior as he saw her scolding the beautician. And then he also saw her hiding her mehndi.He saw guests left for their homes as he and her Mama also went to their room to take rest.

It was around 1 am of the night and both Manik and Nandini were not able to sleep. Nandini's behavior was suspicious for Manik and Nandini was tensed what if someone sees Manik's name on her hand.Manik got up of the bed and saw his Mama sleeping peacefully he adjusted the blanket over her then he got a glimpse of the red shirt of Nandini under the bed.He thanked to God that Nayonika hadn't seen it.He took it out and smiled remembering the incident.

"I think I should return this to her...!! No Manik it's already 1 am she must be sleeping...But maybe she is awake...!! Ok lets check..!!" Manik murmured and came out of his room and saw the lights of her room were on. He slowly knocked at the door.

Nandini heard the knock and become afraid. She hesitantly asked.

"Who's there..??"

"Miss Murthy it's me Manik..!!" Nandini was surprised to hear this.Nandini slowly opened the door and Manik smiled at her.

"What..?? At this time you are here to pass me smiles?" She asked angrily and tried hard to overcome her fears.Manik immediately realized why he was here.

"Ummm yes..!! I mean no...!! I mean I am here to return your shirt..!!" Manik fumbled.

"Ohhh then give it to me and go..!!"Saying that Nandini unknowingly extended her hand in front of Manik.

Manik was about to give her the shirt when he saw his name on her hands. He became shocked.Nandini saw him staring her hand she immediately realized her mistake and was about to pull her hand back Manik held her hand and pulled her inside the room along with him and locked it. Nandini was taken aback on his sudden act. Manik's one hand was on her waist and with one he was holding her both hands and was continuously staring them. Nandini felt like his breath stuck in her throat. The intensity with which he was staring at her made her heartbeat faster. She could clearly heard her heart thumping furiously in her chest. On the other hand the exotic smell of Mehndi was driving Manik crazy and his name on her beautiful delicate hands were making him feel out of this world.

" Mr.Malhotra leave me..!!" She hardly whispered.

"Shhh..!!" Manik shushed her by placing his finger on her lips. "Don't spoil it.." He said in a husky voice and leaned closer to her, he was dangerously close to her.

"Please..!!" She again whispered. Manik shook his head in No.

"First you tell me why have you wrote my name on your hand..??" He smirked.

"Woh...It's beauticians fault...!!" She managed to say. Hearing the word "Fault" brought Manik out of trance. He left her and she straighten herself, he almost throw her shirt towards her and rushed out of her room. Nandini took a deep sigh of relief.

"You fool Manik..!! What were you thinking..?? She is getting married. You don't have any right to think about her. But why do I felt so special when I saw my name on her hands...!! But she said it clearly that it was a 'fault'...!!! Arghhh...!! Stop it..!!" Again his mind and heart were fighting with each other. He roughly run his fingers through his hair and sat down on the bed with a thud due to which Nayonika got up.

"Manik..!! What happened honey? Why are you awake? " Nayonika pat on his shoulder and asked with a concern. Before turning his face towards Nayonika Manik composed himself.

"Yeah Mama...!! It's just I can't sleep...!!" Manik made an excuse.

"Awww...!! Mama's baby..!! Come here..!!" She made him lay on the bed and put his head in her lap.

Manik cuddled himself more in her lap. And Nayonika ruffled his hair.

"Manik you want to share something? " Nayonika asked lovingly.

"Ummm No Mama. I want to sleep..!!" Manik was not surprised as Nayonika was the only woman who knew him so well.

"OK baby..!! Whenever you felt like telling..am always there for you...!!"

"I love you Mama..!!" Manik smiled hearing her words.

"I love you too Mama Ki Jaan..!!" And slowly they both dozed off.

Next day was the day of Mayank and Nandini's wedding. Nandini succeeded in hiding her mehndi from everyone.Manik and Nandini were stealing glances but they didn't tried to talk to each other.Nandini was a bit relaxed.

In the evening.All the preparations were complete. Pandit was preparing Mandap. Manik came out of his room and saw all the decorations he himself was wearing a dark blue sherwani. He was passing through Nandini's room when he saw her standing in front of mirror.She was wearing red ghagra and was struggling with her necklace.Manik slowly stepped in her room and stood behind her. Nandini had her eyes closed.Manik placed his hand on hers. She opened her eyes and was shocked to see him. Manik gently hooked her necklace and his fingers touched her neck. Nandini gasped feeling his touch on her bare skin.Manik turned her to face him.Nandini could clearly see something different in his eyes. Something has changed between them.And Manik was continuously staring at her,caressed her cheek.

" Mr.Malhotra..!!" Nandini whispered "Are you ok ?" Manik stepped back and went from there without saying a word.

"What happened to him..??" Nandini said with a surprise.Suddenly her phone buzzed. She picked up the call smilingly as it was Mayank.

"Hi Mayank..!!" She said in a cheerful voice.

"Nandini..!! Listen carefully to the thing am gonna tell you..!!" Mayank replied in a serious tone.

Manki came down stairs and stood in one corner. Don't know why but the sense that Nandini is getting married to someone else was making him lose his senses. "It's been only two days since I saw her and she is affecting me so much...!! Oh God this girl is getting on my nerves...!! What's happening to me? " Suddenly he heard Nandini's scream. He saw her running down the stairs. She was screaming like a lunatic.She approached Rishab.

"Bhaiya...!! Bhaiya...!! He left me..!! Mayank left me..!! He said that he can't marry me..!!" She shouted on top of her voice. Manik run towards them as well as Nayonika and Anajili. Tears were floating in her eyes.

"Nandu...What are you saying..??" Rishab said all confused.

"Bhaiya he left me..! He said that he can't marry me...He is going to London.."

She managed to say between her sobs.

"What rubbish..?? Let me call him.." Rishab tried a lot to call him but in vain his number was switched off. Nandini was constantly crying. And Manik felt his heart beat getting low seeing her tears.

"That bloody jerk..!! How could he..??" Manik murmured with anger.

"That means Baraat is not coming..." One of the so cold aunty who were witnessing all the drama said.

"Absolutely..!! Now who will marry to this girl..!!" Another aunty said.

Nayonika was hearing all the rubbish she was fuming with anger on the mentality of those women.

"Manik will Marry Nandini..!!" All of them people in the hall look towards Nayonika.

"Mama..!!" This is all Manik managed to say...
