Bombay Velvet Budget Sixth Highest Ever - Collections 118th

Bombay Velvet is the sixth most expensive film on landing behind Dhoom 3, Bang Bang, Happy New Year, Kick and Ra.One.

So with this layout it has to record a top ten opening day, or at least top twenty but this 120 crore plus magnum opus ranks a disastrous 118th in terms of highest days. Ranbir Kapoor's lowest opener ever in terms of collections is Saawariya (2007) at 3 crore nett, that film was also a big flop but a 3 crore opening day against an SRK blockbuster like Om Shanti Om is good judging by what Bombay Velvet has done eight years later.

It is the worst opening for Ranbir Kapoor in real terms but for the director Anurag Kashyap it's par for the course. His top opening day figures as director prior to Bombay Velvet were 2.87 crore nett for Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012), 2.72 crore nett for Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 (2012), 1.34 crore nett for Dev D (2009) and 75 lakhs nett for Gulal (2009).

WOM is so negative that I don't think it'll last till Monday?

Will it be a first for a movie to tank so badly from Day 1? Even Kites and Chandani chowk to china managed a run for weekend. Correct me if I am wrong.

TWM 2 is coming next Friday and Piku is not slowing down, where does it leave BV?
