| Balaji Telefilms is known to go to great lengths to promote their movies. They have some elaborate plans for their upcoming film Koi Aap Sa, starring Aftab Shivadasani, Natassha and Dipannita Sharma. We spoke to Shenazz Nadirshah, Creative Executive Producer, at Balaji Telefilm. Excerpts from an interview. There is a lot of In-film branding in Koi Aap Sa. Could you throw some light on it? We have In-Film branding with Gili. The film promotes the concept of buddies. For the purpose of this film, Gili has come up with a range of 5 rings. This range is called the 'I Promise" ring. What is unique is that these are thumb rings. This would promote a youth cult. The rings have diamonds and ghunghroos. In the movie, Aftab gives Natassha the ring. This ring could be given by one friend to another. Or it could even be given by a brother to his sister. The idea is to promise the person something. It could be a promise to stand by someone or anything else. How do you plan to promote the concept of these rings? There will be TV spots. Also Gili has stores in about 150 malls over the country. There will be posters in all the stores. This range of rings did not exist before the movie. It has been made especially for the film. Can you tell us about Balaji's tie-up with INOX? There will be contests in all the 7 INOX centers across the country. There will be lucky draws as well as lucky seat prizes. Any seat number will be announced as the lucky one. The winner will get movie merchandise like hampers, etc. There is also a tie-up with Anchor Gel Toothpaste. Can you tell us what that is about? The contest is called "Anchor Gel 'Koi Aap Sa' U Gel with me contest." The entire communication will be "You gel with me." We plan to have a nationwide contest. There will be five questions. The idea is to check your "Buddyism Quotient." There will also be a slogan which has to be completed. Participants will have to complete the line "You gel with your friend because…" There are three 1st prizes and 50 consolation prizes. But the biggest of all is the bumper prize. It will be a role in a Balaji Prime Serial. A scene will specially be constructed to incorporate this pair of best friends. What is the promotion plan for this contest? This contest will be splashed all over the media. We will promote it on TV, Print, Radio as well as on the Internet. Participants can also SMS UGEL to 4646. This is the first time there is such a huge media spend ten days before the release of the movie. Balaji is known to promote their movies through their serials. Do you plan to follow that for this movie as well? Yes, we have always promoted our movies in our serials. We use our movie songs in them. We will be splashing the songs of Koi Aap Sa in our serials to have high recall of the movie. |
