Your take @blue is plausible, Arshi, and also far kinder to poor Shiva than my accusing him of a fatal lack of imagination! Though I still believe that my interpretation holds good. And it can co-exist with yours. Such innocents abroad cannot and should not be trusted with such explosive gyaan, for when others who are not innocents covet it, it is not just Shiva but a whole lot of others who get clobbered or killed.

Wow, Shruti and Shyamala, ineterstig discussion on the difference between Rudra and shiva

It's not that shiva values things above poeple, it's more that he values knowledge and believes in the purity of gyan over all else.

This I guess makes him a little unworldly wise and like all geniuses innocent of the evil in the world.

Even when the naga attack happened, he commented on how his theory that nagas would come had been validated than about finding ways and means to escape.

As for Saraswati, I guess at the end, she will chose who she reveals herself to, and it will have to be the Garudas.

Books as Shruthi has pointed out, are mere tools, they need a person with the right intellect to understand and reveal the hidden gyan and that person is shiva.

So true Shyamala, and this also brings to mind Dadi's grouse that it was shiva who drew the attention of others to the Kund. He in his quest for knowledge has drawn the attention of the poland crooks and Grerson.

It was a joy to read all the posts on Rudra and Shiva. Everyone has put their views so beautifully.
I am amazed how much thinking goes for analyzing one decision of Rudra to choose Shiva over books.😊
Shiva is the missing link between the books. Can MB help them. I feel she can help but she is holding it back to make Rudra aware of his duties. She is the only one who seems to confident Rudra will save Shiva and Books both. I would be interested in seeing Shiva's reaction when he meets MB and a changed Rudra. Dont know if I am expecting too much. 😉

Has Shiva seen both the books together anytime in past ?

Shiva is more of an academician & not much thinking of evil in the society. I agree with that opinion here.

No. As I had pointed out in my first post here, he has never seen the First Book, the one that the Secret Society had and which Greyerson brought with him to India.

Thank you all for making this a lively post. I enjoyed reading all your views. Shymaladi and Arshics have covered quite a lot of points. I would like to say the real difference is not about people or books as far as Shiva and Rudra goes.
It is about choices. Between x and y what is more important. What to protect x or y. Rudra is making these choices, whereas that question may not have come up in Shiva's mind.
