Here's how Sonam Kapoor will look as the intrepid flight attendant Neerja Bhanot in the coming biopic on her.

Fox Star Studios has released an animated look of Sonam Kapoor in the avatar of Neerja Bhanot. In the comic book look, Sonam is seen as a flight attendant posing smilingly in front of a machine-gun carrying man.

Neerja Bhanot was the flight attendant of the ill-fated Pan Am Flight 73 that was hijacked by four terrorists in Karachi when it arrived there from Mumbai in September 1986. While the three-member American crew in the cockpit fled, Neerja took charge of the security of the passengers.

In a thoughtful move, she hid the passports of the 41 Americans on board. After 17 hours, the hijackers opened fire and set off explosives.

Bhanot opened the emergency door and helped a number of passengers escape. She could have been the first to jump out when she opened the door but she decided not and was shot while shielding three children from a hail of bullets.

Bhanot was recognised internationally as "the heroine of the hijack" and is the youngest recipient of the Ashok Chakra Award, India's most prestigious gallantry award for bravery during peace time.

It's a story that needed to be told to the world. Director Ram Madhavani is now directing the film with Sonam Kapoor in the leading role. Neerja's facial features resembled a lot of Sonam's.

I'm not sure how much justice Sonam will do to the role. She is not an actress with depth and range. But I love the fact that she tries to do films with well written female characters.

The made up first look of the I-Kaun looks way more compassionate than what the real & reel I-Kaun will ever be .. This first look is a testimony to the fact that the I-Kaun is utterly wrong choice for this role .. which is indeed unfortunate since casting her in this role is such an insult to the brave soul's memory ..

wait, she's actually doing this role? I'm so excited! I thought Sonakshi Sinha was doing this. I'm sure the director had a lot in mind before choosing Sonam. I think she chooses pretty great roles just wished she would work on her acting.

Go Sonam! Show your detractors why an award winning director chose YOU to play lead role in this film over other attention seeking flakes. :P

😃
Yes, he is a self-professed long time admirer of hers (since her Saawariya days actually) & he went on record to say that she was simply the right choice for the role. It is a passion project for him. He will finish this before coming back to that project he had with Kajol.
You can only imagine how mad this is making some, lol. The blinds attacks are relentless ever since this was announced, hehe😎
