Urmila Matondkar will be seen playing the role of an unfaithful lover in the modern remake of 1980 hit movie 'Karz'.
Twenty-seven years ago, Subhash Ghai made the superhit movie 'Karz' which was the story of a singer who takes revenge from an unfaithful woman who killed him in his previous life. The movie had a gripping storyline and excellent music by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
Today, T-Series is set to produce the film's modern-day remake with Himesh Reshammiya in the role of the reincarnated singer. Reshammiya will also compose the film's music.
Urmila Matondkar has been signed to play his unfaithful lover. In the original film, the role was played by Simi Garewal .
To be directed by Satish Kaushik, the remake will have Urmila in two get-ups – a younger one and an older one.
Apart from the get-up, Urmila says she is excited about the project because it is a challenging role already immortalized by someone as talented as Simi Garewal. The movie will also have a special item song by Urmila.
Producer Bhushan Kumar is also looking forward to sign Feroz Khan to play the dumb character of Sir Judah in the film.
Of late, Urmila has been working in art films like 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara' and 'Banaras.' The 'Karz' remake will mark her return to the mainstream. Urmila will also be seen dancing to the 'Mehbooba Mehbooba' song in 'Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag.'
