Whatever Dippy does these days she just fails to please everybody. In fact, there is hardly anything that Ms Padukone has done right according to different sections of the media. Confused? Read on to know what exactly I am trying to say...
Last year, almost around this time Deepika Padukone was the talk of the town courtesy her terrific success record at the box office in 2013. The babe delivered four back-to-back hits - Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ram-Leela and Chennai Express, and away almost all the awards in 2014 for the same. But this year doesn't seem to be so good for Ms Padukone. Though she has managed to stay in the news, it was for all the wrong reasons. It all started when the Piku actress took on a leading publication on Twitter for posting her old video with an outrageous headline. While the whole of Bollywood came out in support of her, the concerned media outlet, Times of India, gave it back to the B-town beauty by calling her hypocrite. This episode went on for days and then Deepika landed in trouble when AIB Roast got aired.
The leggy beauty was spotted in the front row in the AIB roast video which featured Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar. Despite being a mere spectator, Deepika was bashed left, right and center just for attending the show and supporting her beau. In fact, things got so ugly that an FIR was lodged against her and others who were associated with the controversial AIB roast. Once again while B-town stood by Deepika and all involved with the roast, a certain section of the media labelled Dippy of having double standards because how can she laugh at sexiest jokes when she spoke about respecting woman on Twitter during the TOI controversy.
Then the Bajirao Mastani actress came out in the open about her depression battle. While most people appreciated Deepika's initiative to create awareness about mental health, few in the media called it her strategy to gain public sympathy. Her overenthusiastic' PR team was blamed again for using this as a opportunity to gain more popularity.
And now just a few days back, DP's short film My Choice about women empowerment for Vogue India was released on Youtube and though it went viral within no time, a lot of unflattering things are being said about Ranveer Singh's ladylove. Some in the media have called her a hypocrite, some have called the video vague and some have said they don't support Deepika's choice this time. While one section of media has gone gaga over the short film, other section has been busy dissecting what's wrong with the Tamasha actress and her choices.
From being tagged the reigning queen of Bollywood to now being the favourite punching bag of the media, things have certainly taken a U-turn for Deepika Padukone, no?
