Because being a feminist & advocating women empowerment ( or rather a social crusader) is not everyone's cup of tea..Aamir is smart..He is pretentious as eff but atleast he is going about it the right way or is subtle with what he is trying to do..I don care if she is doing it for publicity..A lot of things these celebs do eventually boils down to that- publicity & acclaim..So DP is no exception..But atleast go about it the right way & don make a joke out of genuine social issues..

Well .. it has a lot to do with her credibility (which is almost non-existent these days).

I really like Deepika and was happy when she finally started tasting success last year.Irrespective of her intention, I think it is good for mainstream actors to promote social causes.

First bashing Ranbir on KWK and then working with him on YJHD and doing all the W*F interviews praising Ranbir and saying all silly stuff.

Then trying to pull down every other actress using blinds and PR. Then her PR publishing ridiculous articles of how almost every film was being offered to her first. etc. etc. etc.

Almost every actor does all the shit she has done. Its just that no one bothered to question the credibility of those actors whereas in DP's case, the timing and the people she picked on were wrong. Anushka/Katrina are not the sorts to take the shit without giving it back. Sonam is one of those bitchy ones who will speak out in the most insensitively funny way.

And once these ones started speaking, almost everyone joined the bandwagon (isn't this what happens in the society anyway?).

DP also ruffled the feathers of Shobha De during her KWK interview. De doesn't leaves even one chance to speak shit about everything DP does (including her article on DP's My Choice video).

So the thing is that DP has messed with some people who are some of the bitchiest or smartest themselves. Add DP's success to that, and those people are even more interested in digging her grave. No one is a saint .. neither is DP or her PR or the people who initially started speaking out against everything DP did and then, as it always happens in the society, other people also started speaking out too.

This is the time when DP needs to be strong and deliver a few more big blockbusters and let these people try to keep catching on to her.

Deepika is inconsistent at times. It's difficult to take her seriously when she's solidly pro-something for a while, and then a few months down the line does a total 180

Plus these days she's got a lot of stuff going on - her depression foundation thing, women empowerment angle etc. Part of the problem is over-saturation...she needs to learn how to space things out. If anything, it would make her appearances seem more genuine.

Go back to 2006 when AK started revamping his image and the controversies he found himself in, every few weeks and chart his progress till now, also observe change in tenor of comments on him earlier and comments now. It will give a basic idea of Deepika's intended path as well (if she keeps going this way that is).

The defenders already gave their verdict. The reactions are result of our "hypocritical" culture and patriarchy. The fault was only ours in each controversy.
Regarding choices in films, they are fictional, they are meant to entertain and they have consent therefore no one can point fingers at films, ads, shows.
