Ajay Devgan

Ajay Devgan's mixes a small portion of bhaang in some laddoos and is passing them around unit members at his shoot in Satara .

His entire family — parents, wife and daughter — watch from the sidelines. Once the laughter has subsided, Devgan confesses, "It's about being one unit, one family. It's a fun way to bond. Besides, what else is there to do once we wrap up work in Satara ?"

With six releases lined up for 2005, the next being Blackmail , directed by cousin Anil Devgan — there seems enough happening in the actor's life. It's the personal issues, though, that Ajay gets analytical about.

People say fatherhood has changed me, made me look more relaxed. But there is also an added sense of responsibility — you want to plan and make sure your child has a secure future.

Yes, I've thought out a name for a son as well. Though that's something I'm not revealing — yet!

Hubby knows best:
Currently, there are constant complaints from the wife that I'm paying too much attention to my daughter and don't have enough time for her. But I guess that's the case with every family.

I always thought Kajol was the best wife, now I see she's a better mother!

Son rise:
I was 19 when my dad, along with Kukuji asked me to act. I hadn't even given it serious thought then, and five days later, I was in front of the camera.

These days, due to ill health, dad can't watch all my films. But it's him that I owe my entire career to.

Star talk:
Dad was a technician, and whenever I used to hang around the sets with him, I used to see the stars arriving late and being bitched about by the production people.

Of course when the hero came in, all the grouses would be forgotten. It was that experience that taught me never to misuse my position. I wouldn't want to be bitched about!

On camera:
I've realised that there's a lot more to being an actor than just acting well. Take clothes for instance. A performance would never be complete unless the actor looks the part.

Having said that, I'm still extremely careless about my clothes. I leave it to my stylist Anna Singh to do it.

As for my wife, she couldn't be bothered — she wouldn't know if I wore a shirt in the morning to work and then wore the same thing to a party at night!
