READ: Kunal Ganjawala intoxicates the crowd at Abhivyakti Cultural Fest in Lucknow
PAKISTAN CALLING? NAH!
Kunal, who is completely against this idea of cultural exchange between India and Pakistan, says he too gets offers to perform in Pakistan. "But I am not interested in going to Pakistan," he says, adding, "There are offers that come every month to my manager. If they want to hear us, they should come to Dubai and see our concerts. Also, they deny visas to the biggest people in our country. Why would I want to go to a country which was once a part of my country?
I can go to Punjab and see what Pakistan would be like. Also, if I go to Pakistan, I would be armed with body guards 'coz you never know when you will be bombed. Itni bhi humko garaj nahi hai wahan jane ki. I am very angry about the fact that they have come in our country and apne baap ka maal samajh ke they are looting our country and we are not saying anything. Everything is always one-sided," rues the singer.
SINGER TURNED COMPOSER
Kunal says he has consciously tried hard to not repeat another 'Bheege Honth..' in his career. "I got many songs to be sung as 'Bheege Honth..' but I didn't sing them like that. 'Yaar Ko Maine..' bhi ek ghazal thi and had the same sensuality. But I sang it differently. Similarly for Arijit, if a composer composes songs differently for him, he will sound different in all his songs rather than sounding the same. It is not Arijit's fault if he is sounding same in all his songs. Arijit is different. I'm sure he is a composer in himself and he will compose different songs for himself someday," he says.
Kunal adds, "The only way to sustain yourself in the industry is to do your own music 'coz it is only then that nobody will be able to wipe you out from the industry. We have no choice than to become composers. A song is recognised not only by a singer's name but also the composer's. Arijit will sound different only when he will compose a song for himself. This is what we all are doing today, Sonu, me and a few others."
