It seems like this place is becoming more like an Arab country or North Korea...

For a social networking platform the views of India-Forums and their enforcement are highly stifling and regressive. I'm surprised the forum has not adapted a more liberal approach.
In the end the forum sustains because of the social interaction, friendship and ties people have. Posting on a forum is a privilege, not a right. Complainers can leave, but people choose to stay because of the social experience. Moreover, you can't always go hopping. Sometimes, you just dig in take a stand and hope things change.

i have no problems with the forum and its moderators despite being on a warning level...limitations should be there for some stupid members who spoil every thread with abuses for various actors and actresses

Actually, if you take from an internet perspective, a private-site like India-Forums can implement rules, but those rules can be ignored by public solely because there is no set guide for freedom of speech. For example, I'm using ISP from the US, and a private site cannot keep banning me because it fringes on rules from India or the fact that my opinions are a tad bit too heavy for their taste... So there is no actual set rules for usage of internet esp if I'm able to use this site from a rural place in Texas. In the end, yes it's a privilege that follows a forced decorum that has no standing in internet laws.

I think the lack of internet laws and jurisdiction lets private sites pretty much do as and what they want. Vijay owns IF, he could kick out all non-Indians and NRIs if he wants. No one is going to sue. People will also come back with as many IDs and proxies as they want.
The only time the implications are legal is if crime or harassment is involved.
