Babita and Iyyer are the most underrated couple of the society. They have not been explored. First of all they have no chemistry at all. Ms. Dutta seemingly is more comfortable with Joshi than Tarun and that's what shows during the scenes.

The Mehtas, the Haathis, the Gadas, the Bhides and also the Sodhis have their unique story of love. Its only Mr and Mrs Iyyer who have no story of their own. The scenes are also very general in nature. Going for a movie or making coffee etc. No scenes related to their lives like Bhide has with Madhavi or Jetha has with Daya. Even Popat has elaborate description of his nearly marriage tracks. Even his dreams are well explained than the Iyyers equation.The whole logic of this couple is to make Jetha jealous of the husband and make him flirt with the wife.

really now this question is irking me
why babita call her husband by his surname?
and regarding their relationship it looks more like a compromise
bcoz this is the only couple which never romances
only romance shown is iyer giving costly gifts to babita

Abhi kuch episodes ke baad to Iyyer hi uska naam ban jayega, aur sab log uska asli naam bhul jayenge as krishnan. Aaj kal mai bhi agar mom ke saath episode discuss karna rahega na, to kabhi bhi gokuldham waasiyon ka asli naam aata hi nahi mu mai. Like aatmaram ko mai bhide bolti hu, roshan ko sodhi bolti hu, ha bas taraak mehta ko mai taraak hi bolti hu. waise hi krishnan ko iyyer bolti hu

i think debbie is right... they were first neighbours and then became friends through thick and thin so it is normal that they call each other by surnames .. but their bond has grown ... earlier episodes they used to call each other aap ya bhidebhai or jetha bhai etc ..now they call aye bhide or aye jethalal .. so its fine i think ...

as for ladies , they have developed a bond too but they are incosistent in calling each other jee or not .. in earlier episodes komal and roshan used to call just babita.. they they changed it to babita jee .. even tarak mehta called her babita in earlier episodes

as for iyer and babita .. unko hi pata nahi hein shayad ki shaadi kyon ki unhone ... iyer has some times shown caring for her wife and giving her surprises but mostly it turns into something of a problem ... as for babita barring the episode where iyer fell from the seedhi i dont remember she caring for her at all ... also they have never shown scenes just 2 of them chatting . like they show with jetha daya or bhide madhavi .. usually they ll just show 1-2 mins scene featuring both of them
