A lot of these stories are coming from rural villages living in the stone age.

Even that Delhi rapist who was gloating that women deserved it came from an impoverished hell hole.

This is no coincidence.

is that judge who was defending him shamelessly on national television is also come from village ???? I know a lot of IAS IPS officers who don't want to have girl child so can u tell me why these educated rich ppl think like this?????

A lot of these stories are coming from rural villages living in the stone age with archaic beliefs. No coincidence that most female human rights violations are occurring in the most poverty stricken communities with the least education.

Even that Delhi rapist who was gloating in that recent documentary came from an impoverished hell hole.

Gender equality happens in rich and middle classes aswell but they are a part of the modern world. Gender roles are changing. Also If a woman is threatened she can call the police, file a complaint, file for divorce, have money to leave as she most likely may have her own job aswell.
What exactly is a poor woman to do when abused. They have zero money, zero education to get a descent job, no police that are around because they are dirt poor.

I agree with ur last part but still a lot of modern women are no different than those poor women, yes modern women have a lot of options but the problem is they don't use their options like jaya, twinkle left film industry bcoz their husband doesn't want them to work .

Their belief system is very archaic that is why. Education has failed them.

They where obviously not educated on gender equality and still holding on to archaic beliefs. Also they are older and rich. They grew up in a completely different generation where genders where still very much divided.

I am not demonising villages but are you honestly trying to convince me that people living in poverty, uneducated and believing in archaic beliefs is beneficial to the advancement of society.

Think you need to open your eyes. Some villages are doing great with structured communities, education and jobs to sustain them. There is no inequality towards women. Everyone is happy

However not all are the scenic, all smiling places with colourful scenery that Bollywood depicts, where everyone is happy.

Many don't even have electricity and toilets. low employment rates. Holding desperately on to culture beliefs whether based on gender caste.

List goes on.

Big B is a great actor but other than that, I don't see any particular reason to respect him. People have given him so much love and respect, but he's been always associated with shady politicians like Amar Singh, alleged involvement in scams etc. Both Mr and Mrs yearned for political power and hardly raised the credibility of the system.

It's not good to use Jaya Bachans story as an example. Modern women today are not like Jaya Bachans generation. Yes she is rich, educated etc but in those days there was still a lot of restrictions and gender roles where still very much enforced. Divorce was rarely done or even heard of,

Her story doesn't really represent the modern woman of today. Doubt an educated, modern woman who is not financial dependant on her husband will put up with cheating. She most likely will get a divorce, support herself and find someone else.

Unless she has a fear of being alone, can't support herself financially or has kids and she doesn't want to raise them without a father,

Depends because all situations are on an individual basis,

The problem arises when any member at the receiving end, has to put up with multiple members quoting and telling them exactly the same thing. I think what happens is most members don't go through the entire topic first. As soon as they read something they disagree with, they quote it immediately without checking to see if someone else already expressed the same thing to that person.

Not trying to preach, because even I have been guilty of this. I just don't think it is practical to have more than two members lecturing or putting down another member on the same thing.

To give a flip side. Sometimes when you are passionate about something, you feel compelled to have your say as well. It doesn't matter how many people have said it already. There is a need to put your two cents in and proclaim that you align with certain views.

I also feel there is nothing wrong in reinforcing messages. If only one person agrees/disagrees with you, it doesn't make much impact. But when several people agree/disagree with you, it frames your viewpoints in a context.
