Many come to mind.

Raveena Tandon: Hot property after Mohra especially but ruined her peak years over affair with Akki and returned only to do films with Govinda and then some art films for respect.

Aishwarya Rai: YES. She had beauty, poise, grace, popularity but somehow she couldn't become the top draw. The affairs with Salman and Vivek dented her prospects.

HR : Agreed he was once tipped to be one man rule and even surpass previous superstars because he was the first complete package type hero - looks, physique, talent, style, dance skills. But he just got tagged as one of the stars.

Kumar Gaurav : Overnight sensation after debut, praised for films like Naam. But vanished completely.

Sanjay Dutt: Never been a greater example of great potential gone waste. Criminal waste. He was pioneer of style, brawn and was talented. But just as he was about to zoom to the top he hit rock bottom.

Vivek Oberoi: Talk of career suicide!

Bipasha Basu: She was hailed almost like next Zeenat Amaan after Raaz but I don't think she made much mark.

Priyanka Chopra: YES again. She's given hits and good performances but is somehow never the first name either in best actors lists or top actresses.

Juhi Chawla: Many wrong choices. Otherwise she could be on top.

Rani: She was on top by 2005 but went downhill too soon. Not that she is not doing well but she could have done better.

Smita Patil: Such a body of work in such a short span of time! I think she could have done great work and held record for most National Award wins had she remained alive.

Divya Bharti is overrated IMO. Her acting and dialogue delivery were weak. But then who knows if she could have improved and matured into a fine actress?

Every time her name comes up we all have the same reaction that she would have been a huge superstar had she lived. But, would she have? She was at a very good place in Bollywood and was going up. However, she was also secretly married at the height of her career in the early 90s. How long would she have been able to keep that marriage a secret? And in the early to mid 90s what would have happened to her career once it was out that she was married? I do wonder if had she lived she might have gone the Farah (Tabu's sister) and Ayesha Jhulka route.

How many releases did she have after her death? If I'm not wrong none of those did well did they?

Perhaps...we will never know. She definitely had the spark. Those days such secret marriages kept hidden for years was the norm.

Very random and I don't know why I remember this, but when Hrithik mania was at its peak some random astrologer had said that he would never be number one though he would always be successful and have a lot of industry goodwill. He had also said that the Khans would rule for the next 15-20 years (this was when all three Khans were down on their luck). I distinctly remember this because everyone thought he was crazy. I don't even follow astrology but for some reason this keeps coming back to me because it was so eerily accurate, lol.

Astrology is a science. If practiced well,it might give accurate results.

Oh wow. I thought Divya Bharti was the exception.

I wonder what other actresses had secret marriages? Or actors? Zeenat Aman and her short marriage to Sunjay Khan is the only other one I can think of but she was about a generation behind Divya.

Juhi was one...she hid her marriage for years and admitted it only when she was obviously pregnant.

Divya was the most prettiest girl that time compared to all her contemporaries. Her dialogue delivery was a bit weak but she could've improved considering she was still a newcomer then. She had an amazing screen presence. Out of her 14 movies, only few did well. But she was doing women centric movies like Dil aashna hai and Dil Ka kya kasoor for which she was appreciated.

She had signed movies like mohra, laadla and vijaypath which went on to become hits. If only she was alive. I would've loved to watch her more.
