Really? To me it sounds very Indian. Not the over stereotypical over exaggerated Abu from Simpsons accent. But the educated urban Indian accent. She will not be able to pass off that accent as American at all, nor European or Hispanic.

I'm glad she's not playing an Indian character, but I do hope she works on her accent for her character, since an Indian accent on a non-Indian character doesn't make much sense

I'm actually looking forward to seeing this show😆

In a Q & A session on Twitter yesterday she said the character she is playing is half-Caucasian and half-Indian who is born and bred in US.

Nice try, but she's part of the cast. Also, Variety (a reliable trade magazine) confirmed she's the female lead. The article in this thread said she might not be the female lead in the first few episodes. Either way, it's a huge accomplishment for an Indian actress to be working in a TV show that has a chance to be aired on a major TV network like ABC.
