I have been watching the show from the beginning and here are my thoughts about what works for the show and what doesn't (kinda like a pro-con list) - feel free to add on 😊
What works:
- The chemistry between Neil and Ragini - RR and PK are brilliant actors and they do absolute justice to their roles and it shows amazingly on screen. If there is any reason why anyone is still watching this show, it's because of the both of them.
- Friendships - It is heartwarming to watch RK, Karan , Dimpy and the friendship that they have with Neil and Ragini - I do wish there was more focus on that.
- Humor - I love situational comedy, and I have to say every single time Dr. Aman and Neil come face to face, it brings a laugh out of me... Dr. Aman's confusion and all that he has to say and do to get out of trouble is always a fun watch and what do I say about "Super Nani" - she is a delight to watch.
What doesn't work:
- When I started watching, I was really excited to see how Ragini and Neil would deal with meeting their kids again after such a long separation... but alas, we have only got glimpses of those moments and nothing substantial at that either. If there is any wonder as to why the kids (except Agam, and Suhani) are so self-absorbed and can't see beyond themselves and their feelings, it's because their parents are as well. Neil and Ragini's character as so into themselves and what the other thinks of them, that they cannot see beyond that and how their children might be affected (if they are at all). There is no longing from either the parents or the kids in any way. I would have loved to see moments where Ranbir realizes that he is like Ragini (liking to have things at it's right places, etc) or for Neil to try and bond with Aarav, remembering things he liked as a kid, etc. And let's be honest, are none of the kids curious as to why their parents got divorced and took such a drastic step to separate the kids and not keep in touch with them - I would be!
- The fake marriage drama: If this had just been left as a misunderstanding, it would have been much better rather than Ragini saying that she is married just because Neil hurt her ego. And dragging it on and on with everyone else in the world knowing about it except the kids and Neil is just plain stupid. And poor Dr. Aman, he has to bear the brunt of a lie that he was unwillingly pushed into mainly because he is in love and is incapable of saying no to Ragini.
- The negativity on the show overshadows everything else most of the time. I get it, no drama runs when everything is hunky-dory and a certain amount of negativity is needed, but shoving it down the audiences throat, day in and day out just leaves a bad taste.
- An overdone track - a perfect example - is Nishi's marriage. I honestly expected the wedding to be done with by now, but oh no... one day in serial time is one week in real live... it makes me bored.
These are my thought's thus far, the show has so much potential, but once again, due to poor writing, execution of tracks and the need to race behind TRPs by introducing unnecessary drama or dragging out potentially interesting tracks until they become uninteresting leads to it's downfall.
