COLOURS OF LOVE
On the eve of Holi, actor-couple Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande come together for an exclusive shoot and a quick chat
Who likes to play Holi more?
SUSHANT: Without doubt, it's me. I play dirty Holi, and although Ankita pretends to be very enthusiastic about it, she is the first one to shy away from colours.
ANKITA: Though Sushant would like to believe that he has more fun, I become a livewire on Holi, and I paint the town red... quite literally.
What's the significance of the festival for you?
ANKITA: For me, it stands for fun and togetherness. Colours all around make everything look so beautiful. Above all, on this day, I can do what I want to without the fear of fights.
SUSHANT: It's about spending time with my loved ones, lots of colour and great food. It's the perfect day to express your love.
Any childhood memories?
SUSHANT: Holi is my favourite festival. As a kid, I used to stay awake the previous night out of excitement. There were different groups " mine, my sisters' friends and then my parents' " and we had different time slots to play Holi. In the evening, I would go to everyone's house to play with dry colours.
ANKITA: I was very mischievous as a kid and I still am. I particularly remember that as a kid, my brother and I would gang up, prepare our Holi weapons', and go berserk colouring everyone who came our way.
Does companionship make things more colorful?
SUSHANT: Of course it does. It's different and special. It's the only day in the year when she cooks something for me and that's cute.
ANKITA: It's the seventh year of our relationship and with every passing day, the bond only becomes stronger. Being with Sushant not only makes Holi, but every moment of my life worth living.
Does celebrity status change things?
SUSHANT: Nothing has changed. I go to all the random parties even now. Most of the time my face is so unrecognizable that nobody gets to know I'm there (smiles).
ANKITA: The parties have become bigger and louder (laughs). But by becoming celebrities', we haven't pulled over a facade of pretence and uprightness. I like living my life to the fullest and I want to enjoy every moment of it.
How do you celebrate Holi?
SUSHANT: First, we celebrate with our families on Skype and then we dress up and call our friends. Then, by afternoon, we hunt for the most happening places and gate-crash.
ANKITA: I get up early, offer my prayers, smear Sushant's face with all the possible colours and then head out to celebrate with my friends.
