I respect Javed Akhtar as a lyricist. I do appreciate and miss soulful melodies. Bollywood still produces beautiful songs. Some recent songs that have mesmerized me are Moh Moh Ke Dhage, Preet, Samjhawan.

That being said item songs have their place too. I thoroughly enjoy Munni Badnaam hui. People crave crazy, silly, foot tapping numbers and Bollywood delivers. What is wrong in that?

hmm...may be less in numbers but such songs always existed in bollywood. and we have some melodious songs in recent films too. so its not right ot generalize I guess.

Maine hothon se lagayi toh and Monica oh my darling were that times Munni and Shiela... So what is he complaining about... Yes some of the songs have ridiculous lyrics but soulful music though less in comparison still exists... Even if he is not doing it there are other lyricist who are doing a good job...
Anyways liked Gulzaar better than thuk master Javed...

Gosh,90s was one of the worst seasons...
Remember Anil Kapoor and Juhi's songs...
Main maal gadi tu dhakka laga and Khada hai khada hai...

Now that's what he is missing lol...
