Dekhte hain: Akshay Kumar
Not done! Shah Rukh Khan
B-Town is rife with rumours that Farah Khan's husband Shirish Kunder (Jaan-E-Mann) has had a major falling out with her best bud Shah Rukh Khan. Consequently, SRK has backed out of Kunder's second venture, tentatively titled Joker.
Contrary to reports, Joker hasn't been postponed to next year. In fact, it will take off this year without SRK. From what we hear, Akshay Kumar is being wooed for the film.
Attitude problem
Joker will be produced under Shirish Kunder Film Company, with the backing of a major corporate house. Says a source, "Shah Rukh had a problem with the final draft of the film and asked Shirish to re-work it. However, Shirish is extremely headstrong and took offence.
He then told people that he wouldn't re-work the script, saying he could get any actor to star in his film. Naturally, SRK was none too pleased."
In the early days of the film, Shah Rukh loved the idea and had complete faith in Shirish. What's more, his close friendship with Farah prompted him to go all out in support of Kunder. "However, when he heard that Shirish had been bad-mouthing him, SRK called Shirish to his bungalow for a frank conversation. When confronted, Shirish refused to re-work the script.
This lead to a huge showdown after which SRK said he wasn't interested in the project any longer. Shirish stomped off saying he would get another actor. We now hear he's approached Akshay Kumar," adds the source.
In principle
Apparently, Akshay has agreed to do Joker in principle, and the modalities are yet to be worked out. Adds another source, "Akshay's date diary is completely booked, but he likes Shirish's script and can work out some dates for it this year."
Currently, Akshay is shooting for Yash Raj Films' Tashan in Jaisalmer with Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. As for Joker, it's said to be a futuristic, sci-fi action film with loads of visual effects. Both Shirish Kunder and Shah Rukh Khan were unavailable for comment.
