AIB Roast: I find it wrong and I don't like such things, says Nana Patekar

18 Feb 2015 03:50 PM | TellychakkarTeam

Bollywood for the first time looks divided over the issue of AIB roast. On one hand, those who participated in the show have been vociferously defending it over Twitter and other mediums, others who saw it on YouTube have taken deep offence to the show and the abuses traded in it. Stirring hornet's nest was a lengthy quote from Aamir Khan who denounced the show and made no bones about the fact that he found it offensive and violent. The superstar's comments however didn't go down well with the liberals' of Bollywood many of whom slammed Aamir for his so-called hypocritical stance. Lately, it is Twinkle Khanna's article written for a portal that has been making waves and is now being called as breaking the internet'.

It now slowly emerges that not many in Bollywood are impressed with the show that team AIB put up with KJO, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. The latest to express his disapproval at the show is firebrand actor and activist, Nana Patekar.

Says Nana, "If my mother, sister, wife or daughter are seated, I wouldn't it appropriate to say such things. Even when we sit in our room with our friends and if there are women around then we control our tongue and the things we say. We won't use any bad words while talking. That is our culture. Now whether it is right or wrong for others, I don't know. I find it wrong and I won't do it. It was a ticketed show, I hear. I am not into such things. I don't like it."

The debate today has escalated into a war between the open and close minded beings. However, Nana sees the whole issue in a different perspective. "I don't know about open or close minded. Whether your mind is open or closed, I don't like such things. My only concern is that others should never be instigated to do such things. Such things happen in foreign countries but here (India) such things are not easily digestible. I don't like it. Period."

Well, some strong words there coming from a veteran actor, we sa

reminds me of the debate whether people should be allowed to kiss on streets or not? people can pee and poo on streets, but kissing becomes a problem...On the other hand watching people piss or kiss on roads, but are puke worthy...So whose freedom of speech should be curbed?😆😆

So would it be OK if there were no women around?

This is a double standard a few men adhere to. You can be lewd and crude hanging around your buddies. The second a woman is around you change your tune. Even within the stand up industry, comics like Lisa Lampanelli have a harder time getting acceptance because people feel women shouldn't be involved in insult comedy.

I'm fine if people don't like it. But its like, if you don't like cock, don't force everyone to give up cock. 😆

After 'feminism'another term 'freedom of speech' has become a joke
people should seriously preach about these only if they practise the same.

Who are they to judge others and label them close minded. W*F
