Gone Girls: Time Out For Katrina, Priyanka, Kareena?

Katrina has reportedly opted out of a three-film deal with the makers of Fitoor while Priyanka hinted that she may have a child this year

The cliche that change is the only constant is particularly true when it comes to Bollywood. It takes tremendous star power, grit and resilience to stay at the top but eventually time runs out for most. Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor, who have been first choices for many big budget filmmakers and superstars, have been at the top of their game for long but a change of guard might be in order.

These are days when Kangana is the Queen of hearts and Deepika is the queen of the box office. While Priyanka may have succeeded at the ticket window with Mary Kom last year, news from camp Priyanka points in the opposite direction. In an interview to Filmfare magazine recently, Priyanka hinted at babies. Now, we all know how leading ladies stay far, far away from baby talk in their filmy heyday. Priyanka, though, seems ready. In the interview she said, "Why does that have to be far? What if I have a baby this year? You never know."

The latest reports certainly seem to hint in that direction. Sources say that Katrina, who had signed a three-film deal with the makers of Fitoor, has returned the signing amount and has opted out of the deal. She will be completing the film though and her next release will be Jagga Jasoos, which is on hold as of now. Reports also suggest that she is not signing any new films which can mean only one thing - but having said that we won't jump the gun here because in the case of RanKat, it could mean many different things.

Kareena Kapoor wants babies too and while she may be busy with Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Udta Punjab right now, it may not be long before Kareena takes that much required break. She recently said in an interview to Femina magazine, "I have been lucky to experience both professional success and a fulfilling personal life. So hopefully, I would be having a family of my own. Saif and I would continue to live in India. But we will see the world with our children."

So while these iconic ladies are looking for a break, who is taking over?

Both Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor are in a place where Kareena, Katrina and Priyanka once were - they attract controversies, gossip and most importantly, the imagination of the youth. Alia is working with the likes of Ranbir Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor and now Sushant Singh Rajput. That's a tasty line-up, of superstars and superstars-in-the-making. A line-up that's vibrant and smells of teen spirit.

Shraddha Kapoor has reportedly signed Rock On! 2, a film that Alia was once supposed to do. That's enough dope for tabloids to churn endless copies about number games, professional rivalry and personal pot shots. Add to that rumours that Shraddha may have broken up with her reported boyfriend Aditya Roy Kapur, and there you have it. Sorry PC, Kat and Bebo, the pin-up calendar just got updated.
