why so much hype for bombay velvet?

Don't get me wrong, I love every single person involved in the project. But I don't understand why so much hype for the movie?

1) Its Anurag's Kashyap movie- He is a director which appeals to a particular set of audience. Even after making terrific movies like Black Friday, Gulaal, etc he isn't considered an audience puller because those flopped.

2) Noir- Other than couple of films hardly any films have got success in this category in India.

3) Karan Johar as villian- Are people really wanting to see this? The guy is famous as a director and a host. Do people really want to see how he acts?

4) Ranbir not happy with the film

Other than Ranbir kapoor returning after a big gap and anushka's recent blockbuster I can't see why this would appeal to mass audience.

It has reached a point where people want to see what all the fuss is about😆

All those involved really seem to believe in the movie

Ranbir-anushka pairing as if u see some of their videos they seem like really good buddies

Unique & intriguing concept and for the first time Kashyap (the best Bollywood director) is working with A-list superstar that too on his dream project. So you can easily expect this to be the best film of the year.

Because people know about the book on which the movie is based. It's based on a very large canvas, almost like the Godfather movie in HW. Anurag Kashyap is known to be a powerful director, Ranbir-Anushka are among the finest actors today, people who have seen it have said that it is a movie on a grand scale.
I think there should be more hype than what it is right now. IMO

And I forgot to add.. KJO as a villain? That alone raises the hype.
