Part 43
It was the second week of January. This New Year had brought new hopes and dreams for Geet. She wanted to re-live and share a lifetime with Maan. Past few weeks she had missed Maan. Co incidently after her birthday she did not have one single second of alone time with Maan.
It was Friday and tomorrow is her convocation. She had planned to go back to hostel but last night Maan had texted her that he would be reaching Mumbai by afternoon and would meet her after office and also drop her to the airport.
So she had come with a small backpack filled with all the necessary stuffs so that she need not make another trip to hostel. Actually she was also eager to meet Maan. She had missed Maan and she intended to show that to him.
Maan had never really taken back the spare key to the penthouse from her. So Geet had planned everything out from decorating the living room to setting up the music. She had also managed to order food from the hotel kitchen with a little help from Naina. Naina who had always been super suspicious about Geet and Maan's relationship was excited beyond belief when Geet confirmed her doubts.
Geet wanted to let Maan know how much she had missed him. Throughout their dating period and even before that it had always been Maan who had done everything for Geet. This once Geet wanted to do something special for Maan.
Maan was fidgeting in his seat of the car. He had an urge to call up Geet and confess. That way he would not witness her accusing eyes. But his mishty deserved better. He knew he had to confront Geet.
Geet came out an hour early than the usual time because she wanted to spend some extra time with Maan. She was surprised to find Maan already waiting and ran to meet him.
Geet:" You are already here. That's great! Why didn't you give me a call or something?"
Maan:" Woh I was about to call you when I saw you coming."
Geet:" I missed you soo much Maan...it was like a part of me was missing or something..."
Maan:"I missed you too Mishty!"
Geet:" I know you would always have to travel for something or other but try to wrap things quicker. It was like you were almost gone for an entire month..."
Maan:" Hmm."
Geet could feel that Maan was distracted and thought it might be because of jetlag.
Geet:" Come on let's go to your pent-house. We can have a nice heart to heart talk there before you can drop me at the airport."
Maan quickly accepted the offer. They had around two hours before Geet would need to leave. He can at least explain his side of the story to Geet. However once they reached the pent-house he was surprised at how beautifully it was decorated.
Geet was looking at him intently wanting to see his expression. He was at awe. Just then there was someone ringing the bell again. He opened the door and one of the waiters of his hotel came and arranged a table and placed food, plates everything. He was gone after wishing them to have pleasant evening.
Maan was truly touched with all the arrangements Geet had made. Geet came after closing the door and wrapped her arms around him. He hugged her tightly hiding his head at the crook of her neck. He needed to feel his mishty in his arms in case this is the last time he would able to feel her.
Geet placed a chaste kiss on his cheek and whispered softly," Welcome back Mr. Stranger!"
Maan:" Really Miss Song, don't I get a welcome kiss or something?"
Geet:" I believe I just gave you one."
Maan:" You call that a kiss?"
Geet:" Don't you?"
Maan captured her lips instead of answering her verbally. There was no rushing, no fighting in the kiss. It seemed like they had all the time to kiss each other. He slowly kissed her tasting each contour and crevices of her mouth with his tongue and memorizing her taste as if taking the very essence of her. She slowly started tugging his hair at the back while he pulled her closer. Her soft bossom was flattened against his firm one and he plastered her not even letting air pass in between. They stopped kissing t breathe but he didn't stop. He kissed all over her face and then her neck and ears and her shoulders. He kissed every inch of her uncovered skin and she also meanwhile placed soft kisses wherever her lips came in contact with his skin. They both had missed each other and they both were no longer shy to show the other how much they had missed the other person.
Finally what seemed like hours after they let go of each other. Maan still held onto Geet and whispered softly," Now that is what I call a welcome kiss."
Geet blushed bitroot red.
Geet:" Come on let's have some early supper before the food gets cold. I bet you didn't have a proper lunch. You don't prefer flight foods."
Maan indulged her as they both sat for what can be called as an early supper. Geet had switched on the music system and the room was flooded with soft romantic musics both Hindi and English, new and old. Geet had made sure all Maan's favorites were there available.
Maan: "Geet, you don't like Itallian."
Geet:" Wrong. I just prefer Indian."
Maan:" So why didn't you order something of your choice."
Geet:" So many times you have had Indian for me when you don't even like it. And you think I can't handle having your preferences for one evening? "
Maan:" I love indulging you. And don't even count your birthday. "
Geet:" Same way Maan, this entire arrangement is my welcome back party to you. It's your evening Maan. I want everything as per your choice. You see even the music is also full of your favorites."
Maan did not say another word as they both digged into the yummylicious pasta. Geet had ordered Tiramishu for dessert which was Maan's personal favorite. They talked about mostly the past month each recounting how they had spent it without the other.
When the dinner was over the room was filled with a kind of melancholic music. Maan could not place which song it was.
Maan:" I can't recognize it."
Geet:" It's an old Hindi song. Lag ja gale... It's my favorite. I decided to include it in the play list. I didn't know what I was thinking."
Maan: "In that case my sweet Geet, may I have this dance? "
Geet kept her hand on his and they began to move softly on the rhythm of the song...
Lag ja gale ki phir
Ye hasin raat ho na ho
Shayad phir is janam mein
Mulakat ho na ho
Lag jaa gale se
Of course the living room did not have that kind of space so all they could do is a sort of ball room dancing. But the soft light, the soft music everything had created a sort of magical aura...
Hum ko mili hai aaj Ye ghadiya naseeb se Je bhar ke dekh leejiye Hamako kareeb se Phir apke naseeb mein Ye raat ho na ho Phir is janaam mein Mulakat ho na ho Lag ja gale ki phir Ye hasin raat ho na ho
Geet kept her head on Maan's chest as if she was tired or something while Maan pulled her closer to himself as if promising to be there for her forever.
They had stopped moving and Geet was looking intently into Maan's eyes. What she wanted, what she needed was written clearly in her eyes. Maan obliged and placed his lips one again on hers for the softest possible kiss. The way he held her, it seemed as if she was made of glass. In that moment Geet felt like she is the luckiest and the most loved person in the entire world...
Once they let go of each other Geet sighed. It was time for her to go. For the first time, even the prospect of meeting Sid and Meera was not cheering her up.
Geet:" Maan, I need to go. This was the last song on the playlist means it's time to go."
Maan was brought out of the spell by these words. He realized that he had wasted the entire time and now he had run out of time. He does not have enough time to tell everything to Geet. The fact needed to be presented cautiously or Geet would misunderstand him.
Maan:" I actually had something very important to talk to you about."
Geet:" Maan, I seriously need to go or I will miss my flight. It's office time traffic now. If it is that important we can talk in the car."
Maan:" It is not something I can talk to you in the car Geet."
Geet:" Then it will have to wait Maan. I will come back to you on Sunday. I promise I would come directly here from the airport so you can tell everything."
Maan nodded reluctantly even when his instincts were telling him that something is really going to be all wrong. The car drive was almost silent and thankfully they reached on time.
Geet was about to get down from his car when she remembered something. Searching her backpack she took out a fat red diary.
Geet:" Maan, I want you to have this diary. You are the first person I will be sharing my diary with. I had never done that with Armaan as well. This diary, this diary is very special to me. For the past years after... After Armaan passed away I had been writing in this diary. I want you to read it. You would know a lot more about me and Armaan, things I couldn't tell you..."
Maan was overwhelmed with the amount of trust Geet had on him and was afraid he might not be worthy of it.
Maan:" Geet, are you sure about it? I think I hardly deserve this."
Geet:" My need to write in this diary is gone Maan. I am no longer the girl you found at the lake side. You have healed me Maan and made me your Mishty, this stronger fighter Geet. I will be forever greatful to you for that. I am giving you this diary because I feel I can share Armaan completely with you. You deserve a part of his memories because you have helped me so much to become whole again. This diary ... This is me sharing my Armaan with you. I want you to know the extent of how much you have helped me. Also it would show how much you mean to me if I can share this with you. Come on, give me a hug. I need to get going."
Maan was overwhelmed with emotion. This girl had just shown that she had given her everything to him. One day she had confessed to him that she didn't feel like sharing Armaan with anyone. Today she was willing to share.
Maan hugged her lightly since they were in public. He whispered his last desperate message in her ears.
"Geet... I love you dear. I don't know what future holds for us but please don't ever think that I don't love you. I love you Geet...Forever and Always..."
Geet smiled and said," I love you too Maan."
Maan watched Geet walk inside the domestic departure gate and held the diary at his chest. He wished he had some more time to explain. He only hoped that Geet would hold onto her promise and would at least give him fair chance to explain everything to her... the atmosphere was grave... A storm was lurking at the corners threatening to destroy everything in its path.
