I understand the criticisms surrounding the main plot. How Anjali shouldn't have to prove her worth, how her father's love should've never been absent, how she shouldn't have to 'earn' what is rightfully hers. I get it. But that does not mean that I don't applaud Anjali fighting for it. She is not egoistic by nature and even though she deserves her father's love without having to move mountains (no pun intended), she is doing it anyway. Because she feels it's worth it.
Honestly, as I saw Anjali eventually discovering herself through mountaineering and Mission Everest, I did feel that somewhere down the line, her father's importance in her life might diminish specially since he was never around. But buried underneath the snow, breathing what could possibly be her last, her mind drifted to...her father! The same father who was hardly ever there for her birthday, who never took her to the circus, who didn't enjoy coming back home to a daughter. But in that instant, one doesn't see whether he deserves it or not. It's all about Anjali's fierce capacity to love so unconditionally. It's quite incredible as well as tragic really.
Of course she deserves wayy better but Anjali's longingness and her wait for her father's love gets to me every time. Maybe one day her eyes will open and she will stop caring, like Sarita fears. I know a lot of us feel she should. But it's not happened yet. The rudeness of the situation is just so shocking!
