Karishma's act axed
Tanna will not perform on Balaji's Navratri special
Reena Thapar Kapoor
She is popular as the twit Indu in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Known to be a good actress, Karishma Tanna says, "I know it's very difficult to stand out when you're working with great actors." That's probably the reason she was chosen to be the face of Balaji in the special Dandiya episode to be telecast today. The curvaceous actress has been walking into other Balaji shows like Kasauti Zindagi Kay, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki... to hand out invitations for the big event in the Virani house, all of last week.
Like the others, Karishma too was given a special track to dance to. The girl was to team up with Shilpa Saklani to perform to the 'kajra mohabbat wala...' track. But changes can happen at the eleventh hour…Shilpa backed out of the act due to health problems. "Riva Bubber replaced Shilpa. We even rehearsed for a few days but...," Karishma sighs, "Riva too fell sick. She was down with fever and hence couldn't rehearse properly. Then, just when she was recovering, she sprained her ankle." That threw the entire act off the track. Since the episode had to be filmed and there was no time to chalk out another act for Karishma, "They had to scrap my performance completely."
But the girl has taken the whole incident in her stride. "Such mishaps happen! I felt bad about it for a few days. But now I'm fine with it. I love dancing and I think I'm fairly good at it. What I really missed out on is the opportunity to perform on TV. But such situations can't be helped." However, Tanna fans will definitely catch a glimpse of their favourite actress. "I might not have a solo number to myself. But, I play dandiya with many people like Baa, Parvati and Tulsi," she says. The leggy actress who has been lying low for sometime is also hopeful that her character in Kyunki... will be re-worked now. "I'm an optimistic person. I've been told that I have a tremendous screen presence.ya coz she's too tall😳😆 I am sure that my producer Ekta Kapoor also feels the same and will cast me in her upcoming new shows."
