heyy everyone!

Traditionally, women were expected to stay home and look after the house and children while men went to work and earned money. However, in most families, this is no longer the case.

We have come to accept working mothers, but why can't we accept stay-at-home fathers? If 1 parent needs to stay home to look after the children, why is it expected to be the mother? Why are there these double standards, even in the 21st century.

javs good topic. i think this was discussed earlier(may be), let me find out the link. the double standard is decreasing i think with time and generation. this is what i think. men and women have become more open minded these days and are able to lend their flexible attitude in case anyone of them needs help. double standards exist in certain places but i guess it will diminish with time. dont have the answer to your why though

Why fathers??? is it not double standard? If father dont have job then he can stay...otherwise why? 21st century most of the people dont think like that way cos all are busy to make their life.......😊

i got a trouble with sitting at home.. whether it be man, whether t be woman. we discussed this topic before as raunaq mentioned.
Hypocracy rules the game when men at home are judged, while women at home are assumed to be better home makers 😛

As Raunaqwa mentioned we have had this debate many times and as always I respect men and women with real career and who balances home too. I don't have respect for anyone who chooses to be home for just the sake of it and claims to have done sacrifice by doing that. We all can do our bit by balancing career and home. All of us are homemakers (men and women) when we do chores around house and take care of family. It takes an able person to have a career along with it.

Note: Career is not just a job.

One person from DM I would like to mention is DB-Varsha. She is a perfect example of someone who had a career, nice family and now a good settled life. I love her for that.
