A young girl, Aliya, is scared of getting into the water, but her mother tells her to try. Then her Mausi calls and in excitement she falls into the water. She starts calling for help and her father goes to save her, but suddenly stops when he remembers a prediction that water can the reason for his death on 9th January. Her mother comes out at that time and saves Aliya. Later the couple are fighting. Aliya comes out and her father apologizes for not saving her, but she says that he would have saved her if Mom didn't come out.
Later, Rajeev Kumar, the father, is signing some papers to hand over a company to someone else while there are protests going on outside. Then the media question him. He leaves as he is feeling unwell. He is waiting for a lift when an employee, Sushil, begs him not to sell the company, but he says that he has already sold the company. Sushil threatens him and the hotel staff come and take Sushil away. He gets into the lift alone as Sushil gets away from security. Suddenly the elevator stops and an alarm starts ringing. Everyone goes to check what is going on as Rajeev attempts to get the lift to move again. The security guards open the elevator after much attempts and find Rajeev unconscious. They bring him out with the help of some guests and then the manager and secretary attempt to revive him. Rajeev's wife, Udita, comes out as well and that's when the manager says that Rajeev is no more.
Abhijeet, Sachin, Purvi, Shreya, and Nikhil are investigating. They rule out poison and strangling. Sachin and Shreya wonder why he and the lift are completely wet. The security guards tell Abhijeet, Sachin, and Shreya what happened. Purvi points out the people who had been waiting for the elevator that got stuck. They say that the elevator didn't stop anywhere. Abhijeet wonders why the elevator got stuck. Sachin says that there is nothing wrong in the machine room and the engineer says that there is nothing wrong inside the elevator. Abhijeet tells Nikhil to check on top and that's when he finds a timing device that was connected to the circuit board and was set to 48 seconds. The engineer says that it takes about 45 seconds to get to the 9th floor and 50 seconds to get to the 10th floor. He adds that the lift wouldn't stop until the timer doesn't end even if someone pressed the button in between. Abhijeet asks Udita if she suspects anyone and she blames Sushil. The secretary says he's the union leader and the manager says he attacked Rajeev. Abhijeet asks for his mobile number.
Abhijeet, Purvi, and Nikhil are on the road tracing Sushil and catch up to him in a taxi. They get the taxi stopped and Sushil is caught. Abhijeet blames him and then take him away.
Purvi and Nikhil are searching his house and they find the timer. Abhijeet asks for his confession. Sushil says that he did want to kill Rajeev and had made a plan, but didn't do it. He says that he went to stop the lift from falling down because that had been his plan, but it didn't fall, just jammed.
Daya says that Rajeev's medical reports says that he was a heart patient and he probably died due to a heart attack. Pankaj scares Freddy about a water aatma. He coughs and Daya gives an amused look. Dr. Salunkhe comes over and says that Rajeev died because of water in the lungs. Rajeev's wife is surprised that the prediction has been proven correct. She says that Rajeev went to a tarot card reader a few days back and warned him to stay away from water as it could be the reason for his death. ACP sir says it's time to meet this tarot card reader.
Back in the hotel, Sachin, Abhijeet, and Purvi are attempting to resolve the issue of where the water came from. Abhijeet says in an amused look that when the door doesn't open the first thing you look for is a window. He sees a phone and wonders why Rajeev didn't use the phone and called for help instead. The engineer checks the phone and says that there is a new wire connected with the emergency button. Abhijeet presses the emergency button and he and Sachin get sprayed with water from the speaker. They realize how the lift and Rajeev got wet. The engineer pulls the speaker out to reveal a pipe. Abhijeet says that there is something else we're missing.
Freddy and Pankaj go undercover as Amar and Prem to the tarot card reader. Freddy asks if he'll ever get a promotion as he hasn't gotten one in the past 17 years. Pankaj asks if he'll ever get married. The tarot card reader says that both will get their wishes soon. This is when Daya and Shreya enter and accuse Mishika of murdering Rajeev. She says that she doesn't know this man. Daya says that last Sunday she gave Rajeev a prediction that he would die because of water. She says she rented this place for a movie shooting last Sunday and says the heroine came herself to book the place. Daya tells her to get the heroine's sketch done.
Dr. Salunkhe reaches the elevator and says that they won't find anything here because he died of the water he drank. He adds that Rajeev had anaesthesia in his blood. He adds that Tarika brought it herself and Abhijeet comments that it must be right then. Dr. Salunkhe explains how the water went into his lungs instead of his stomach. He says that it took just 5 minutes for the anaesthesia to affect him.
The 4 now check the conference hall. Abhijeet finds Rajeev's bottle. He tells Purvi to fill it with water. He turns the bottle upside down and water comes out of it. They realize that the bottle was injected with anaesthesia. Abhijeet asks the manager who was here. He says that there are usually 15 people here and gets the manager to call them here. Then he gets a text of the film heroine and it turns out to be Udita.
Udita gets a call from CID, which she cuts. Purvi, Sachin, and Abhijeet are surprised at this. Abhijeet tells Purvi to check the phone's location. Abhijeet tells Sachin to go to that location. Meanwhile Udita goes to the top of the building and jumps from there. Wehn Abhijeet, Sachin, and Purvi reach the location they find her dead. Purvi and Sachin go up to the roof to check, while Abhijeet searches her purse. He finds a suicide letter where Udita says that she killed Rajeev. He wonders why she wrote "zimedaar" twice.
Back in the Stars Wars bureau, ACP sir tells Shreya to match the sketch and Udita's photo. ACP sir says that the sketch lady has only one earring while Udita has 2. ACP sir says that this whole game was to confuse us. He adds that the way this was planned says that it was a revenge game. Shreya checks Rajeev's company records and finds that Rajeev had a partner Mukesh who died in the water a few years back because of which Rajeev benefited. ACP sir says someone benefited from Rajeev's death. Shreya brings up a photo of Mukesh's daughter.
Abhijeet, Sachin, Freddy, Pankaj, Shreya, and Jaywanti reach a site where goons are roaming openly and there is only one lady there. Pankaj knocks over a drum and a gunfight begins with some impossible deaths once again. The CID team slowly moves forward. Abhijeet is rushing forward when he hears Aliya yelling for the woman to let her go. Abhijeet runs forward to save Aliya even as goons fire at him. Then he gets shot at, but he runs forward and jumps into the water to save Aliya. The mastermind woman is the person Rajeev sold the company to. Abhijeet saves Aliya and tells her not to cry and says that as long as he's there nothing can happen to her. Meanwhile Jaywanti delivers the final slap that lands the criminal in the water. Sachin, Freddy, Pankaj, and Shreya watch her splash about.
The girl says that Rajeev murdered her father, Mukesh. Aliya is listening. Abhijeet says that the report says that it was an accident. She says that it was a lie and she worked hard to be able to buy Rajeev's company and then killed Rajeev and forced Udita to commit suicide. Jaywanti takes her away.
Abhijeet decides to take care of Aliya until they can find a nice family to adopt her. There is a final sweet scene between Abhijeet and Aliya with the team watching as Abhijeet sings Chanda O Chanda.
