One Direction star Zayn Malik being lined up for Bollywood blockbuster soundtrack
The 21-year-old could join the likes of Kylie and Snoop Dogg by recording a hit for a Bollywood movie
One Direction star Zayn Malik is being wooed by Bollywood bosses who want him on a blockbuster soundtrack.
The 21-year-old hunk has been lined up to join the likes of Kylie and Snoop Dogg, who have swelled their fan base - and coffers - through the lucrative Asian movie scene.
Producers in Mumbai want to tap into his global popularity and Bradford-born Zayn could pocket up to 500,000 for a song.
Producer Ashwin Varde says: "One Direction has a huge following among the youth, especially in major cities.
"Zayn Malik is very well-known in that circle and holds tremendous promise if given the right break in a Bollywood film.
"Bollywood has always welcomed actors from the UK, like Katrina Kaif and Amy Jackson. Zayn appeals to an even younger audience, which is the driving force of Bollywood movies today."
And it's not just his vocal ability that's in demand. He could soon get the chance to be a star in front of the camera too.
A movie insider says: "One very big production company is putting together an offer for him to act as well as sing.
"He has turned down one song so far but if the right one comes along it could be great for him."
Legendary on-screen bad guy Gulshan Grover, 59, star of more than 400 films and one of the first Bollywood stars to make the crossover to Hollywood, says: "There is definite interest in getting Zayn to star in a Bollywood film or deliver a song.
"He has a huge fan base in India and would do really well.
"I would be happy to guide him. I'm sure he doesn't need help with the dance moves but I would be happy to teach him how to fight on-screen."
Previous big pop stars who have done songs for Bollywood include Kylie who was paid 800,000 to appear in Blue, Snoop Dogg for the film Singh Is Kinng and rapper Akon for Ra.One.
The group reportedly told Hindustan Times last year: "We know about Bollywood life and would be glad to do a number for any Bollywood film."
The boys' hit documentary film This Is Us was recently screened in Calcutta to an enormously positive reception.

Zayn Malik and Jasmin Walia voted Britain's sexiest Asian stars as Bollywood continue to try to woo the 1D star
The One Direction hotty and the TOWIE babe top the list after more than 10 million votes are cast
1D heartthrob Zayn Malik and TOWIE hottie Jasmin Walia have been named Britain's sexiest Asian stars.
The pair were named king and queen of the Brit scene with more than 10 million votes cast in the worldwide poll.
Zayn, 21, made the top 10 of sexiest Asian men in the world, coming in at number nine with only established Bollywood names higher than the Bradford-born singer.
And X Factor reject turned reality TV star Jasmin, 24, debuted in the women's top 50, charting at number 32. Both were the highest placed Brits in the poll run by UK-based Eastern Eye magazine.
Legions of fans are desperate to get Zayn and his One Direction band mates out to India and Pakistan.
As exclusively revealed by the Mirror in October, he is being wooed by Bollywood bosses who want him in one of their movies.
And his global appeal has seen him tipped as the stand-out prospect for a solo career when 1D go their separate ways.
Asjad Nazir, showbiz editor of Eastern Eye, said: "Zayn has a huge global fan base especially on social media and has more fans in India than many of the biggest Bollywood stars. He regularly trends across Twitter in the sub-continent more than any other British celebrity.
"That is why many of the big Bollywood film producers are very eager to sign him up to star in a movie or to deliver a song.
"That global multi-cultural fan base is the reason why he will be the biggest success from One Direction when the band eventually breaks up and they go solo."
Pop star Arjun and Top 10 rapper Jay Sean, from Brent, London, were the only other Brits on the men's chart.
British actress and singer Sophie Choudry, 33, adult star Shanti Dynamite and London-based singer Kanika Kapoor also featured on the women's list behind Jasmin, from Essex.
Asjad added: "Although she has a rapidly growing male fan base, I think Jasmin Walia is becoming a success because she is connecting to the everyday individual and bridging the gap between cultures.
"She has expressed a desire to work in Bollywood and I think they would welcome her. She is a very ambitious girl and I am fully expecting her to make waves internationally in the coming years."
Jasmin auditioned for this year's X Factor but failed to impress the judges. She went from an extra to a main part in ITV2 hit The Only Way is Essex.
Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan was voted the world's sexiest Asian man for the third time in four years. After his divorce from wife Sussanne earlier this year, the film star received 30,000 marriage proposals from fans.
And Indian Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra once again topped the women's list, winning back her title.
The stunning 32-year-old brunette lost out last year to British-Indian actress and model Katrina Kaif, 31.
