Sushant Singh Rajput made his bollywood debut in 2013 with director Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che based on Chetan Bhagat's novel The 3 Mistakes Of My Life. In this film he played the role of cricketer Ishaan. Sushant's performance in the film was highly appreciated by both critics and audience.The film did well at box-office also.Sushant won Best Debut awards at Star Guild Awards and Screen awards for his performance in Kai Po Che.
Sushant's next venture was Shuddh Desi Romance under Yash Raj banner directed by Maneesh Sharma . Here he played a tourist guide Raghu and was seen opposite Parineeti Chopra and newcomer Vaani Kapoor. This film was also appreciated by both critics and audience. Shuddh Desi Romance was Sushant's second hit after Kai Po Che
Sushant is playing Byomkesh Bakshy in his next film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy which is set in war-torn Kolkata (then Calcutta) of 1943. The film directed by Dibakar Banerjee and co produced by Yash Raj Films and Dibakar Banerjee Production is all set to release in February 2015
Sushant's has been signed by director Shekhar Kapoor and YRF for their dreamproject Paani. Paani is set in a futuristic world where wars over water have broken out. The story centers on young lovers who defy the rules and try to make the water flow back to its people.
