I don't think there is a healthy way to cast aside emotions. If you suppress your emotions now, they will simmer inside and manifest in more negative ways in the future.
It is OK to break down. It is OK to cry. It is OK to let little things bother you. It is OK to let emotions have the upper hand sometimes. Remember, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Over time you will learn to manage your emotions better.

Engage yourself in something you love doing. It will take things out of your mind for a while until you feel better.It always better to deal things with a calm mind,so you can work out the best possible solution.You can confide your worries in someone you're comfortable with..Like they say,'Shared joy is a double joy;Shared sorrow is a half sorrow '.
If nothing else helps,it's always better to have a cry or a rant.Let those feelings out instead of bottling up everything inside.It's better not to think much about past or future 'cause past can't be helped and future is not set in stone.Make the best out of present instead.

But RTH, imagine you are on duty(at work) and you have to maintain the emotional stability right? It is THIS that scares me and worries me.It is OK to break down. It is OK to cry.
