How do you deal with emotions? Emotional turmoil or breakdowns or turbulence blah blah blah?
I know there's nothing to debate... or is there? What's the best way to deal with emotions in this materialtic world, where the realities/needs of the world and time that doesnt wait for anyone - is all thrust into your face allowing you no time to wallow in emotions?
I usually withdraw...sit alone in my room, cry, cry cry till my eyeballs pain. Cannot speak about it. I hate going outside during such times, but the necessities of life in this world push us outside or make us do things(for example career), where I just become more calm, try diverting myself... my parents usually make me smile in the morning, I smile for them - well, how can I not - till evening...but, once the night comes, lights are off... i fall back into the same thing.
Anyways, how can we put aside our emotions to survive in this world? Or are emotions always present, and we just have to become more and more strong towards functioning normally everyday?
I find it difficult to manage in this materialistic world :( ...the conflict has been widening and deepening since ever.. growing up has been empowering, I am grateful to God, yet the future makes it very scary... maybe I dont love God. ANYWAYS.
So, I just want to hear out your ways of dealing with emotional breakdowns... do you withdraw and become calm, or go into conniptions, or just focus on practical things pushing the emotions like set-aside files(i wish to do this) or just cry and pray etc? What you wish you rather do? Is there no escape from emotions?
I hope I am not making myself look like a lunatic again :(

I don't think you can put aside your emotions. It's better to learn how to deal with it than shutting yourself off.
When I'm upset,I'd take a book and start reading like there is no tomorrow😆 I'm an avid reader but I like reading even more when I'm feeling down.I'd let myself immerse in a book, walk in someone else's shoes and view the world through their eyes for a change. To some reading is an escape from situations and the reality of life, but to me it is an escape from the usual, dull narrow thinking.Reading may not directly help you with dealing the situation, but on the whole,it widens your perspective and your options so it helps you to make right decisions,I think.I love swimming and travelling as well.I always find going for a short drive at night refreshing,no matter how bad I feel.I love it when the wind ruffles my hair.Simple pleasures of life!<3

Engage yourself in something you love doing. It will take things out of your mind for a while until you feel better. It always better to deal things with a calm mind,so you can work out the best possible solution. You can confide your worries in someone you're comfortable with..Like they say,'Shared joy is a double joy;Shared sorrow is a half sorrow '.

If nothing else helps,it's always better to have a cry or a rant.Let those feelings out instead of bottling up everything inside. It's better not to think much about past or future 'cause past can't be helped and future is not set in stone.Make the best out of present instead.

I don't think there is a healthy way to cast aside emotions. If you suppress your emotions now, they will simmer inside and manifest in more negative ways in the future.

It is OK to break down. It is OK to cry. It is OK to let little things bother you. It is OK to let emotions have the upper hand sometimes. Remember, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Over time you will learn to manage your emotions better.

I highly recommend this course "Science of Happiness" https://www.edx.org/course/uc-berkeleyx/uc-berkeleyx-gg101x-science-happiness-5576#.VG4Si4vF9qU. It is absolutely free. You will be surprised at the research on happiness and how we can shape our happiness.

very well written :)
I used to do exactly the same until a year ago. My career ambition also used to be such a motivating factor. But, IDK why and when this started happening... I'm at the mercy of my emotions sometimes. Even my thought process has altered a lot(i feel). I never share lol, only stay calm.
But it's not like I am sad with emotional breakdowns, I prefer to go about feeling the way I am feeling... sadness is part of life. Both sadness and happiness co-exist. But sadness is like a hurdle to meet materialistic demands of everyday life and time! 😆

But RTH, imagine you are on duty(at work) and you have to maintain the emotional stability right? It is THIS that scares me and worries me.

Overtime, emotions have begun managing me! 😆 But yes, I am happy to wait...see how I grow :)

Well i just go and give my mother a big hug or rest my head on her lap.
Her or my BFF or My sister.

I get my peace or courage back.
Mood swings are the most common things ever. Women are mostly affected by it. On a brighter side,it makes us only more brave and courageous.
