I think its like this....guys vote for whoever is form their region or whatever and girls vote for cute guys...and since adolescent girls pumped up on hormones seem to be the major chunk of the voting block ....a girl never is gonna be the Indian Idol.

if voting was restricted to 1 per person, I would agree with Javedji. But since people can vote any number of times, it all reduces to money power. This tye of voting cannot be compared to the democratic system, nor can we accuse people of having gender or regional bias. If your family/ friend circle is large and you have the MONEY POWER, you can win ANY competetion.
