Tamasha and Ayan Mukherjee's next with Aloo will certainly be good.

Even if BV and JJ aren't so good, Ranbir's performance will be appreciated like in Rockstar. I think as long as you have one hit film in a year (no matter how many flops) it maintains your star value. Like Tamasha will do for Bir next year, and Ayan's next will do for 2016/17 or whenever it releases.

For example, Akshay had Holiday, Entertainment and Shaukeens this year. But assuming Shaukeens fails, Akshay will still be hailed for Holiday, which was a good film and a bonafide hit at the BO.

He is a good actor but his forthcoming movies are uncertain entities

The main issue for Ranbir now is all his films are delayed. If they turn out to be blockbusters...atleast one of them he will be fine. Else he has too much competition and we hardly hear about his work. Mostly its him dating or someone else wanting to date him.

BV and JJ are performance oriented roles. Tamasha and Ayan's films are proper commercial films. JJ is medium budget and Anurag Basu has good track record with films like that( Gangster, Metro, Barfi). It'll make profit post 75 cr+ and has Katrina too. Signing a Hirani movie would be a highlight of any young actor's career. I think he's quite capable of making a drama genre and there won't be any obstructions when Sanju himself is giving the permission.

Ranbir always wanted to balance commercial projects and performance oriented films so he's not gonna stop doing that. Look at Haider. It isn't a hit, but got critical acclaim and will only help Shahid's career. Where as an average rom-com will get you bashed only. Ranbir isn't gonna improve as an actor just by doing films like YJHD.

There are risky projects, but he has proved he could pull off roles like Barfi and be convincing enough for people to come and watch such films in theater. Not every one can combine that.. Even thought Rocket Singh flopped at that time, his acting in it is still appreciated. Commercial success is very important but you need to do find a balance as well.

To be fair he lost a lot fans when he was constantly lying about his relationship with Katrina all through besharam promotions he was asked casually by fans, reputed reporters if he was dating her and he very seriously said that people think were dating but were just good freinds and that he is single. He kept denying he was dating her and then Wham.. came the Ibiza pics and he went round saying shes a special person in his life 2 mins later after blatantly denying. Then came KWK and all the bhabi fiasco and ever since then there has been non stop news about them from what they ate to the furniture in their new house. He lost all credibility if you ask me and I personally lost respect for him not that he's with her but he took the public for a fool & manipulated the media which back fired.

BV Roy and JJ none are big commercial films but esp BV it can go either way it can be a big disaster or masterpiece

Yes, BV is risky due to the budget. But if it does decent business(semi-hit) and gets critical acclaim, he'll largely benefit from it. Films that need to make big are Tamaasha and Ayan's film. He's doing them aiming for a Superhit/BB. And if JJ turns out to be surprise super hit like Barfi, that'd be great. I feel JJ will be a clean hit anyway. Budget isn't big and multiplex influence is getting bigger year after year. Ranbir-Katrina should ensure a good opening considering the genre(15 cr+)
