KSBKBT FF: The broken ties Part1 : The revenge Pg1
Mode-1, Mode-2!
Till now-
The team is trying to find about the hit on Gayatri Devi, the MLA candidate. The Ex. MLA Kankan Raj is suspected in it. ETF is following the MLA's friend Mr.Ramnath to whom (It's said that) he is not in touch for years... meanwhile Sakshi is trying to say "something" to Arjun!! And Ayesha tries to keep Sakshi away from Arjun, for she fears it may complicate the situation. Oh, yes, Arjun is in amnesia\|/.
Now-
Chap-11:
My fake plants died because I did not pretend to water them.
We were getting ready to encounter our enemy Mr. Ramnath in his house.
"Sir, he is not coming out of the house. If anybody asks, they are informing that, he is not well! He is in bed rest!' and he is alone in the house now!"
Ayesha informed us.
Arjun faced difficulty in pasting the mustache that he insisted to adorn with the doctors' coat.
"Shree! See, it doesn't adhere here!"
He turned to me and showed the right side of his fake mustache.
He turned from the mirror and started giggling at me and slapped hard on my back.
"Doctor!!" I cried hard unknowingly.
He was in Mode-1' and was still laughing at me, while I was calling the real doctor in reflex, who told us he got this amnesia.
"Yes, What's the problem man?" He asked hoarsely.
"Oh, nothing! Nothing really!"
I was wriggling still as Chottu entered the room and started laughing at me.
"Chottu, help me here!" He turned to Chottu.
"Sir, I think you don't have to paste this to pose as a doctor?"
"No, don't you see my doctor? He too wears one like this!"
"But not a fake one!"
Arjun grinned and turned to me.
"Shree, please remove the glasses. You are looking like a ward-boy. What do you say Chottu?"
"You are always good at guessing, sir!"
Chottu pulled my legs in time.
"My doctor wears one like this!" I returned. "And it gives me the air of confidence!"
I replied as still keeping my chin up.
They both shrugged in unison with a wink in their eyes which they could not hide from my specs wearing eyes.
After this and all, we came out of the room and Sakshi laughed at me. Ayesha tried to hide her smile and turned other side fast; pretending that she had not yet seen me.
One thing I could not understand that why could not these people laugh at Arjun?
Is there a restriction for a chief even if he was in Mode-1'?
Not fair!
.~.
Arjun asked that question suddenly while we came out of the office entrance, "Ayesha, you haven't yet told me about the source?"
Ayesha literally stopped walking and seemed undecided where/who she should look about.
Sakshi tried to help her in a bold voice, "Well, Arjun that can wait, you know, you can catch that fellow any time, now first we shall finish this one and then we can see what the caller 'd tell us." She looked Chottu mischievously.
.~.
Ayesha knocked the gates.
A man in security uniform opened a small box-hole and asked what she wanted.
She introduced herself and demanded him to open the gates.
A moment later a body-builder appeared in the hole and denied to open the door that she could not inquire his master when he was ill.
"Chottu!"
She called.
Once he saw Chottu, he budged in and the gates opened at once.
Still the man tried to argue.
"Ma'am, he is really not well. You can't disturb him now!"
He pleaded and was keen enough not to talk to Chottu.
"That's why we've come with a doctor!"
Arjun entered the gates. The man gave a shocking look at the looming figure as he saw their preparation.
The man hesitated then asked them to wait.
He went inside and came back in a minute.
"Sir will see you now!" He informed.

Chap-12:
I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass.
Mr. Ramnath was in bed as expected and was looking tired. He said, once saw them approaching.
"What- do you... want?" He was gasping by this.
"Just simple questions!"
He motioned them to sit.
"Well, do you still in contact with Mr. Kankan Raj?" She started.
"Why- are you... asking?"[...=coughing]
They noted that there was No-'What?', just 'Why-are you... asking? [...=coughing]
"Right, What about tomorrow?"
"What? What tomorrow?"
He had forgotten then that he had to take gasping breaths.
The doctor approached him.
"What?"
"You look tired! See, you are sweating!"
He took his hand kerchief and patted the patient's face, when he reached his nose and mouth he delayed a moment and the patient passed out.
He signaled Ayesha and Chottu. They went out of the room at once and informed the man who allowed them in that he was right about his master that he was ill badly and the doctor was seeing him.
In fact the doctor was seeing him at that moment seriously.
He came out and told excitedly,
"Come on, quick! Call an ambulance. We've to go to the hospital now. We can't handle him here!"
Ayesha dialed me. She informed that they had a patient in emergency and needed an ambulance.
.~.
We were in the ambulance.
I cut the call and turned to Sakshi.
I scratched my upper lip and pasted the mustache again.
Sakshi was still smirking at my disguise.
"I think you are going to ruin our plan. Are you going to laugh at me there too?" I asked worriedly.
"Come and see my performance there!" -she challenged.
"Sakshi don't forget u don't have to utter a word there."
"Words? Hah, to speak I don't need words Shree, just the eyes are enough. Follow me, I'll show you my strength there!"
"I'm the doctor here," I reminded her.
"Oh, then behind you doctor!"
.
.
.
I followed the stretcher behind as was talking to Sakshi.
"See you are a student and this is your first day here. You've to learn these things fast. You know, in my experience maximum 24 hours, seriously speaking I -", we crossed the gates, "-I can't take this anymore. See Chottu, how he is managing his springs in a small band. You've to learn how to bind your hair into a ponytail in three quick steps."
The body-builder was still looking at his master bewilderingly.
He asked where we were bringing his master.
Chottu replied him, "Where to? God, to the hospital! Come and see him there, you fool!"
.~.
He woke up and realized that he was lying on a bench. He blinked a moment and his face showed a shocking mark on it once he got that he was now in a police station.
He came to a sitting position and looked helplessly.
"Now, can you tell me about the hit?"
He heard a voice clearly but felt the dizziness fogged his mind fast the next moment.
He slid from the bench, but before he could reach the floor, the men around caught him and made him lie again on the same bench.
Someone splashed water on his face.
Nothing happened.
"Call an ambulance! We can't handle him here!"
Heard the voice, the trio rushed in and saw him, lying on the bench unconsciously.
We turned and saw 'his' face and realized that 'he' was now serious and Chottu and I exchanged a glance meaningful enough to say 'he was in Mode-2!'
We were sending the ambulance away when we heard the voice. But now we had to use it to move the patient to the hospital yet again.
Still I felt the itching on my upper lip because of the mustache.
Mode-1,Mode-2!
Chap-13:
Weather forecast for tonight: dark.
Next Morning:
"Did you notice it?"
Chottu asked me.
"Yes, Nearly the whole day he was in smiling mode, but after he entered into the police station he had changed totally."
"Mm!"
"Well now?"
"I'm not sure! He is thinking something seriously!"
We were in the car and were going to visit the Grand Grounds'.
The local police in mufti were watching over the place now.
Now Ayesha had a map that gave every single detail of the surroundings of the ground, where the speech was going to take place.
The hotel behind the ground had four floors with a terrace above, Ayesha informed.
We were rounding the area to get a clear view of its surroundings.
We could see our men nearly everywhere around the area.
We first entered into the complex building situated on the other side of the road.
Our man approached us while we were standing near the parked vehicles in front of the complex.
"Sir, I've inquired every shop for any new faces around the building. None was fitting to our calculations. This is a well opened place, sir. He can't escape from here easily. Too much people will be around at the time of the meeting."
"Right! How many of you are here?"
We climbed the steps to the second floor.
Arjun saw the ground from there and he thought, it was too low for one to get a clear view of the stage from there and with people standing under the stage it was nearly impossible to take an aim.
"Eight in total sir!"
We went to the hotel from there.
None approached us there.
We entered in.
None stopped us.
We reached the elevator and touched the terrace button.
The ground was behind the hotel. We saw three of our men in there.
They were watching the surrounding buildings keenly.
Arjun moved to a telescope and peered in.
He adjusted the lens and looked from left to right.
Everything seemed normal.
But to think someone was out there somewhere hiding for a hit, gnawing him like anything else.
Next we visited the traveler's bungalow. The watchman said, there were no guests at present and informed that in two days time the district collector would visit the place while coming for a meeting.
We warned him to be careful and to inform us if anybody approached and arranged men there too.
We entered into the school and were informed by the security that it was a holiday, for it was the first anniversary for the late correspondent.
We arranged for watchers there and it was a one story building with a small garden and a playing area.
The compound that separated the school from the ground was high enough to meet the security of the children studied in.
At last 'the Grand Grounds!'
It was a large one actually and famous too. If they succeeded in the hit, it would be an important issue and a worst scenario to the department too.
We were still checking the banks. If anything clinked, the puzzle would be answered, the next instant.
We climbed the steps and stood on the stage.
It was an open stage without a back drape. From there we could see many buildings, but from which the man was waiting to aim his rifle was the question.
Arjun turned toward the hotel and saw the windows of the 3rd and 4th floors were in view. He called a watcher on the terrace and asked about it.
The man replied that there were few guests staying in the hotel at this time of the year and they had checked every single room for weapons even pins.
The stage had not yet been set. No lecterns or mikes were arranged then.
Until lunch Arjun was serious and thinking continuously something every moment, so we could not get a glimpse of a Mode-1' man in him.
After lunch, once verified everything yet again from first to last, he looked relaxed somewhat. Even he smiled at us.
Of course, we had not wanted to supervise Sakshi from reaching Arjun, since it was impossible even for us to reach him. He was moving everywhere and every single moment-checking, checking and checking again...
Mode-1, Mode-2!
Chapter-14:
Never have more children than you have car windows.
It was four that evening and the meeting was going to start in a few moments.
The next hour was most important for many of us in the grounds, for Gayathri Devi it was her first big speech on the stage.
The expectation was big and it resembled in the crowd gathered for the speech.
If it ended well it would be a huge success in her career and ours too.
Inspector Juhandhar's head appeared nearly everywhere. It was visible that his career was at stake and he got that well too.
When informed about the hit, she just smiled and let it go. But he could not.
Finally I saw Arjun was turning to one side yet again and watched something from time to time. I decided to help him.
I slowly reached him without arising any doubt around, while moving.
Gayathri Devi reached the mike to start her speech.
"Sir!"
"Mm!" he was not listening to me.
"What's it sir?" I insisted.
"Maybe nothing, but see there is something dark moving from time to time.
I was lucky enough to see what he mentioned moving and whispered excitedly, "Sir! You are correct there is something ... sir! I think it's a mirror. It's moving! It reflects in the sun light!"
"It's not a mirror, Shree-"he was on his phone then, "See it's the next building to the school, there is someone with a lens or something, standing. Can you see it?"
"Sir, the rays of the sun is blurring the image from here. We couldn't see it clearly!" one with the telescope replied.
"Sir, I think it's coming from a window, maybe someone is holding a mirror!" the second one replied.
"I can see a face there. It must be a house, but can say nothing much!"
Arjun was now moving fast.
"Can you tell me which floor it is?"
"Sir, it's... maybe the third. I can't be sure, the school blocks the view!"
"Yes sir, it's the third floor from the top!"
Another one confirmed.
He was in the car then as we hopped in; it darted off like a jet.
The next minute we were in the entrance of the housing apartments, the next we were in the elevator and noted that it was a five floor apartment house and found no security or elevator operator was present there in view.
We went out into the third floor.
We asked the first man showed up in that floor from his house, about the direction of the school and found that one wing was exactly viewing the school area completely.
We spread the next minute and started knocking every door down thunderously.
Two doors opened immediately to our knock.
The faces were shocked to see some four people with guns drawn and moving madly to the next door shouting 'Police!'
It was the fourth door which took several moments to open along with the third.
We reached the next two doors in the wing, which answered without knocking, once heard the voices outside, out of curiosity.
Arjun asked one of the tenants that if there was a balcony or a way to reach the back windows.
Still we did hear the speech from the ground, not the people's riot, Gayathri Devi is still alive!'
The tenant replied that, "There is a connecting balcony in the back of the third house, but the tenant is not available now!"
But Arjun was already there standing before the third door.
He was about to shoot the lock when we heard a door open.
!!!! (00) !!!! !!!! (00) !!!! !!!! (00) !!!! !!!! (00) !!!! !!!! (00) !!!!
"Shree, where is Sakshi?"
He put his mobile to his ear and replied me, "Who's she?"
"Shree..."
"Oh, well, see she is engaged with someone, in the mobile, I mean," he waved his mobile.
"When did you see her last?"
"Mm.. Grand Grounds, perhaps."
"Didn't you see her while you hopped in the car from there?"
"We couldn't see that whether even we climbed into the car fully then," he explained.
"Won't you go to find her?"
"Will, but once finishes the job at hand," he moves back to see the doorway.
And readers, it's still a mystery that our beloved Sakshi Anand's missing from the story!
We hope someone (?!) will enlighten us soon;stay tuned with us for the upcoming piece of information on this.
Mode-1, Mode-2!
Chap-15:
All men are equal before fish.
The man in black tried the number he was given, one last time, before he got out of the shed.
The number was still switched off.
He was going straight to the contractor as he was instructed.
He drove off to the house and knocked the gates.
A heavy set man opened the gates and informed that the person he was looking for was not in the house.
The man was furious enough to go to the big' man's house to threaten for money. He informed somebody about this once the other end picked up the mobile at the first ring.
The big man accepted at once to give the money, but not in the house he insisted. He promised that he would arrange the transaction in half an hour through a right hand, he promised.
The right hand took the brief case and went out of the back door.
He knew well where to stop and he stopped the vehicle before the shed.
On hearing a vehicle, the man went out and welcomed the right hand. He thought once the money got counted, he had to call the other in the contract, as a matter of fact his 'Boss!'
Once they entered in, the right hand extended the case dutifully. The man in black extended a hand cheerfully.
But both of them had not yet known the truth that that was the last transaction in their days.
#
The boss was waiting for his call eagerly and adjusted the screw yet again on the lens.
The ground was filled to the fullest that day.
The assassin was looking through the lens and thought, 'Now I can see the reason for a hit!'
Gayathri Devi had started her speech.
There were more Smart Guys' in the crowd, the assassin noted and moved the rifle's lens to the target's head.
The assassin had much time then.
Still a half an hour wait could be possible, to a safe escape, in fact the escape would not need more than three minutes.
Thirty seconds to reach the door, another thirty to the elevator, one minute to the ground floor or one and a half in the stairs and twenty to the vehicle which was near the entrance, then a drive to the main road in the opposite direction.
The plan was perfect. At the time they started searching for an assassin, even to reach this building, they would need a couple of days' time at least.
By then they would well be out of the country.
But before that one phone call had to be made, after receiving one.
The assassin put the chocolate bar down and moved to the rifle yet again.
The speech is clearly audible here!' the assassin thought and heard a cheerful applause from the crowd.
#
She was in the shower.
She thought of those days, when they were happy and had not yet thought of it a moment that they would fight for nearly everything.
She could have adjusted with him even more, she thought.
She could have compromised even more.
She knew that his job was one of the pressuring and problematic one too.
She could have realized him and his love even before.
Late is better than never!' She comforted herself.
She came out of the shower and started planning the day.
He was coming that night from an official tour.
She was going to prepare his favorites and give him a surprise gift, she decided.
Then she made the preparations fast.
Everything seemed light and bright then.
She even started humming a song.
[Of course the same one I sang and got myself into trouble, voluntarily.]
"Ishq shava, mushq shava
Khushamdeed e Marhaba
Ishq shava.. haay-"
She heard her door bell jingled once.
"You are Mrs. Ragu, right?"
"Yes!"
"I'm Ragu's friend. He invited me to his house, when I came last time, but I couldn't come. He insisted that the next time when I came here I should visit him at any case. Where is he? Hadn't yet gone to the office, I hope?"
"He is coming tonight from a trip!"
"I see!"
"Please come in!"
"Oh, thank you! He's told a lot about you Mrs. Ragu!"
Oh, really! I didn't know he was thinking of me highly!' She thought.
He would be happy, on his return to know that I treated his friend like this!'
"How is the coffee?"
"Oh, fantastic! He'd tell you are perfect in the kitchen!"
"Oh not that much! But I'll do pasta nicely. His favorite!"
They both smiled at each other, pleasantly.
"You can take the guest bed room. It's over there! You can ask anything that you need!"
"Thank you!"
~
After lunch Mrs. Ragu approached her guest and informed that she had to go out for shopping and to pick up her child along. She would be back in three to four hour's time.
"You can get a nice sleep meanwhile, you look so tired. I've prepared tea for you and it's in the flask on the dining table!"
She explained everything and left to buy something special for her returning husband.
Mode-1, Mode-2!
Chap-16:
I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.
The fourth door opened quietly and a young beautiful lady stood behind the door.
She was more than beautiful, cute and class, but her-
She asked softly what was going on.
Her voice was melodious that I heard music in it.
Before we could voice out our question, one tenant asked the same question.
"Who are you?"
"I'm Purvi's relative. I came to visit her!"
But her night-gown was ill-fit. It was two times larger her size at least which showed her inner wear on her right shoulder.
One lady came forward to ask her the second question.
"Why are you in Purvi's night-gown? Where's she?"
"She's gone for shopping. I was sleeping. I was tired and changed into her gown. Now can anyone tell me what's going on here?"
I could try her!' I thought. But that could wait.
For now-
"Let me!" Arjun said standing behind her.
How did he go there?'
Oh! I forgot to tell the scenes happened meanwhile, since I was swept off by her looks.
Let me tell you now please!
Once the door opened, Arjun murmured something to Ayesha, who put an arm on the lady's shoulder, pushed her aside and let Arjun in.
He went in, crossed the hall and reached the bedroom. He moved to the back window and talked into the ear piece.
"Can you see me?" he peered out of the window.
"I can see you!" one replied.
"That's it. That's the window!" another one confirmed.
He turned and observed the place.
A cot was there with some wrinkles on the bed spread.
He looked the other rooms as he moved to the hall.
She turned to face him. I moved toward her and stood before her. I was filming her in my tab under the pretext that I was recording.
Chottu stood at the door way, literally blocking the tenants from us.
"There is a rumor that some assassination is- perhaps I've to say was going to execute here!"
"Here!" She widened her eyes.
I nearly fell into them.
"Not here actually!"
"Then go there and catch him!" She advised.
"Why should an assassin be always a he'?"
"What do you mean?"
Yes, what does he mean?'
"Can you come with me please?"
He led us to the bed room.
"What were you doing here near the window?"
"Actually nothing! I was sleeping when I heard a knock on the door!"
"Can you see the wrinkles on the bed?"
Of course! But what's the game?'
I silently asked him in my mind.
She frowned and nodded.
"Can you tell me how this came here?"
"God, I said, I was sleeping!-"
"But just on the edge of the bed?"
"That doesn't mean I wasn't sleeping!"
She returned. I smiled.
"Very well! Can you explain me why you are in Purvi's night-gown, while I can see that you are in your full outfit under it?"
She adjusted the shoulders and looked down at her in reflex.
He smiled at her.
God, she said she was tired!'
He put his gloves on and moved to the bed. He stood on the balls of his shoes at the wrinkled portion of the bed- spread, near the cot, lifted his right hand up and picked up something heavy from the loft.
Now what's it?'
It was a... Rifle!
I stared at her for an explanation.
"How did it come here?" he asked for me.
"I don't know!"
There was not a, 'How could I know', Just a MERE I don't know'?' -My detective part of mind argued.
I was still staring at her.
"It'll tell us who put it there, I think!" he lifted the rifle and said.
"That won't explain that I wasn't sleeping!"
She is brilliant!'
"I forgot to tell you that you are still with your shoes on!"
He finished.
We heard a loud applause from the ground.
Everybody stood there saw her legs.
Dear, God! He is more brilliant!'
He moved away to speak in to the ear- piece.
If only he was a girl...'
I thought and turned away from her. Suddenly I got that Chottu was staring at me and realized that I had uttered those words out unknowingly.Epilogue:
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.
"What was it Shree?"
"Nothing actually!"
I tried to cushion the blow.
"Shree, careful! Sakshis will kill you if you Shrees wish to get him!"
"Sorry, I was carried away a minute!"
I looked down out of shy.
"Right! Forget it!" he accepted at once to drop the matter.
We were silent for a minute. I was retracing the moments back in that house,-No! Not that one, I was thinking about her arrest!
Chottu aroused me.
"Shree, Sakshi is coming!"
"See her face! She seems as though she's touched the sky!" he commented pleasantly.
I started slowly, "Chottu-"
"Oh, come on. I won't tell a soul!"
"Thanks Chottu!" I said, even a smile came to my lips as I said, "You are a true friend!"
"A boy friend, I hope!" he quibbled.
I flashed a lightening stare at him then.
He was wrong. Sakshi was not coming to meet us. She turned towards Arjun's room.
"Hi, Arjun!"
She said excitedly.
He just nodded.
What?' she could not understand.
"Arjun, you know what, they arrested Ragan Dev!"
"What?" he could not understand now.
He picked his mobile and muttered,
"None informed me!"
"I told them not to! Uh- I mean I told them I'd tell you myself!" She added quickly, before she was scorched by his look.
"I'll tell you everything! See this video!"
She extended a digital camera.
He leaned against his chair and started watching, what he had missed, amid!
She started telling.
"I got a phone call from my friend, who gave me the clippings of the MLA and Ramnath. She informed me that there was something happening in the back door of the MLA!"
She started explaining the missing portion in her story, after getting a tell-me-the-whole-story look, with an eyebrow raised.
"Right! She was coming from an interview and saw a man entering into the MLA's house through the back entrance. She said if I was interested, we could dig this. So I went there. Thanks!" She said as he motioned her to sit.
She settled in the chair and put her elbows on the table. He resumed watching the video clip.
"When I went, she was waiting there in her two- wheeler. We saw a car came out of the back gates.
We started following it in a reasonable distance as I filmed the whole scene."
He looked up at her from the camera.
"The car went straight to an old garage. A man came out and they started to go in when the police came out of nowhere and arrested them." The inspector appreciated me for covering the MLA's face in the background while the car came out of his house."
She shrugged as though to say the story was over.
"I gave a copy of this to them as they arrested them."
She had finished talking and was eagerly waiting for his response.
He responded with a mere glimpse of smile, "Good! Give this to Shree to make a record!"
He finished the matter simply.
That's all?'
She got to her feet and extended a hand, "I will!" she mumbled as she went to the door, "Even the inspector appreciated me for covering the MLA's face in the background while the car came out of his house."
She came out of his room and Ayesha encountered. She gave her a mirthless smile and went away.
"Sir, Inspector Juhandhar called. They had arrested Ragan Dev and the ally of the assassin!"
Ayesha said out of excitation.
"Right!" he replied.
Oh!'
"And they are going to get a warrant for the MLA!"
He nodded.
Sakshi!!'
A smoldering Ayesha came out of his room and went straight to Sakshi.
"Sakshi, I told you not to tell him!"
She started flaying her.
"What? Ayesha, I didn't tell him anything! I didn't get a chance!"
She denied emotionally.
"No! I don't trust you!"
"Why?"
"He is not ok! He is sad, I think... or angry! You've said, right?"
"I can say that he is coming back to normal!"
Sakshi said absently.
"Yes, he is coming back to normal!"
I said to Chottu.
"The doctor is correct!"
"I've already started to miss his smile!"
"Not anymore!"
He said.
"What?"
I thought he was going to tell the unbearable that if we hit him...
"See this!"
He had opened a video and gave me his mobile.
I saw that it was a video clip of that precious day.
It started at Chottu's entry to inform us about Rahan Dev and it went upto Ayesha's warning look, before she went away to follow Ramnath.
"Whenever you want, you can see him smiling, laughing even I've taken some pictures in that doctor outfit. I'll send them to you now!"
"From here on, there will be no Mode-1, Mode-2!' We'll see just the Mode-2, I think-" I was whimpering.
Chottu interrupted me.
"You mean, Mode-1?"
"No, 2! Why?"
"But you said in your message, it was Mode-1 when he is behaving normally?"
He opened the message I sent from the car, when Arjun and I were coming to the office from the hospital, the previous morning.
He was right! I had instructed them that Mode-1 was for his normal mood. (His serious mood)
I looked him and said boldly," Don't you remember the doctor's advice Chottu that only confusing a patient will cause problems, but not others?"
I picked up my mobile to see the pictures he had just sent.
-The End-
Thanks,
~K-..
NOTE:
Finally, I've come here to talk to you dears, after a long while.
To give my mom a helping hand, which is necessary, I've to be away from here and can't make it here often.
This is not a farewell, not yet.
Meaning except the half a dozen stories which 've been written and typed-ready to post, there'll be no new stories and I think I've to finish what I've started.
Unfortunately-
I think, I can't manage enough time to read all your precious works. 'll miss you, gals.
Sorry for hurting,
