So a friend asked me to try get her to watch KYY ... she wanted a sales pitch.
And She wanted to get to know the protagonists. This is what I had to say to her.

Baba = What we call Manik ... pyaar se. I'd like to think it's SO much better than Cringeworthy crap like DhakDhak or Hotwa 😳 (GEC shows ke fans will know what I'm talkin' about here 😆). Baba is somethin' one would call an unruly horse, or a wayward child ... A name that serves to be more of an affectionate rebuke than a cheesy Moniker hinting at his sex appeal 🤢.
And Laddoo = Nandu . Cuz shez just THAT cute, With gabloo gabloo gaal 😆
And see ... I am not saying the show doesn't do cliches. It does. But apnay hi andaz mein. New twists on old favourites + lots of new things = great draw for viewers.
Baba is an acquired taste, but Laddoo you will take an instant liking to . That much I am sure off. . And while she is all shades of adorbsss, Baba is my star. Itnay ... 5 year old BACHAY jaise harkatein ... yet SO mature in terms of things that count ... there's just something so loveable about a paglayt sar phirra man-boy trying to find his calling in life ... while tuggin' at the pig-tails of his favourite girl 😆
While the last couple I shipped, SwaRon/TanHa (D3, Channel [V]), was more of a junooni obsession than pyaar for me, I absolutely ADORE MaNan and KYY. Back then 89% of the time we were like TARSAY huye kauwwe ... but this show unlike SwaRon, gives you something EVERYDAY , YET leaves you wanting for more. Definitely more positive wale feels, not hamesha frustrated like SwaRon-days.
While I am not going batshit crazy over Baba-Laddoo (cuz I am in a MUCH better place as a fan) , I am enjoying it SO much more. SwaRon and I were in an abusive relationship that mentally exhausted and traumatised me. Baba-Laddoo keeps me happy YET excited for new stuff all the time. U feelin' me ?
And this is an MTV show ... so intimacy is not an issue , with the channel or the actors ... WAY more than something Channel V Bozoz would ever allow ... but not in as much ke it'd gross ppl out . Just enough to keep it real. A real relationship has some degree of physical interaction ... not like DORI BANDHO, DROOL karo and do that creepy eye-sex thing. These two have had a very sweet hug ... and very aesthetically shot kiss (today)... and a bed scene (not even first base, more like half a base, just a buildup to a kiss that did not happen, in a nice intimate setting) ... and all the little things in between. That one would expect from college kids in Love . It shows the nice balance between battling your hormones vs expressing your affection for someone you genuinely like. Personally I really like this shows take on intimacy. And Young love.
On a scale of 1-10 on TYPICAL Tweeny-ness .. I give this show a 4.5. but that's just me. I feel its too realistic and mature to rate higher than that on a "typicality" scale for Teenybopperyness of the show. A youth show does not necessarily have to be silly and immature to justify its classification as a youth show !
