Okay what I fail to understand. You guys always stand up for woman shakti and all that jazz but why are girls always portrayed as weak?!

Telling a guy to wear chooriyan is an insult ?! Why! Girls love to wear chooriyan and if a guy is too soft they are associated to being weak and indirectly called girls.

Also on topic of Upen. Another thing that really got to my nerves is when Ali referred to Upen being from England and uske culture mei hota hai aisa. Well hello Mr Ali, you're very cultural Indian girls have shown what happens in their culture. A stigma on pure brother and sister relationship, girls smoking and bitching about each other all the time, skimpy shorts and all...I wonder what you're cultural Indian girls don't do that we do. Pathetic.

But I sort of agree with Ali... It is true... There is a cultural difference between Indians who live in India and Indians who live in Uk
And this bangles thingie is not meant to be an insult for girls but it is an insult for boys becoz it attacks their manliness... See the difference... This is a statement that has been going on for years and it is an accepted way of portraying the manliness of men...
Yes women are alter weaker gender... They are softer... So what... They are different... I am proud of this difference and I am proud of being a girl!!!

@ Matra - completely disagree. I disagree to being compared as the weaker gender and I am definitely not proud of that comparison.
I am strong and can beat a man in every other field of life. I am proud of being a woman and I accept I am not weaker or any less than a guy.

Also no again I disagree with Indians brought up in UK and Indians brought up in India - infact I see many Indians tryin to be wannabe and copying the western style. I am an Indian born and bred in UK, and I have no less culture than any Indians. If anything, being born in a western society and still maintaining my Indian roots is something that I am proud of. It is difficult and yet we face this discrimination that just cos we are exposed to western society, we copy everything they do.

Chill guys!! I mean take it as an idiom. It's from traditional indian mentality where bangles were a feminine sign n was considered a feminine thing. I don't think ppl r insulting any gender they r just making a statement. I hv seen a few ppl using this comment for girls also in case girls are lazy or Dunn wanna work. It's a very commonly stated thing similar to pair mein menhadi lagana or any other idiom

Just take it as a saying no literally. I mean this shudnt b someone benchmark for respecting women

I have seen women from all phases of life taking undue advantage of them being both the 'weaker sex' as well as demanding equality with fellow men. i dont think it justifies the societal scenario of living... Wear bangles is an Indian proverb... A partof the same indian culture that you are proud of... It has existed for years... And we use that very metaphor when we are fighting a cause for women too.
About your wannabe western comment... I would rather say, to each his own... You cant judge people by the dresses they wear and the people they interact with...
I am born and brought up in Scotland and I can hardly relate to the Indian culture that you are talking about

because that is how they are made.

A girl is physically weaker than a boy in most of the cases.

That is not insulting girls, that is just telling the truth.

If this was not the case, we would not have separate events for men and women sports.. both the gender would have been competing in the same event.

Let us not confuse the case for respect for women with stating the obvious difference between two gender.

Respecting women is about understanding the difference and appreciating both gender is equally important and compliment each other!!
