Freida Pinto who has portrayed variety of ethnicities like Greek(Immortals), Mexican(ROTPOTA) ,Iranian(Desert Dancer), Arab(Black Gold) will now play the role of a Spanish girl in her upcoming film titled Blunt Force Trauma.She is cast opposite Ryan Kwanten(True Blood) in this flick.If Whites play South Asian roles wont it be called racism?? why it never applies to minorities ??

Actually, if we go back ...way back to Harappan era, people of Harappan are sometimes believed to be of a Mediterranean race...

After so many thousands of years, I dont think anyone in India especially is of a "pure race" ...sure some traits of a person do stand out which makes him/her look Indian. But no one will have an absolute definitive look. Hard to define who looks like what/which race/country..

If they look white in all aspects, how can they play a South Asian lol. And I dont think it wouldnt be called racism lol, it's just casting a person appropriately against his character.. it also depends on the character, the actor's face, etc, on a case-to-case basis...

While Indians, Hispanic, Arabs and North Africans do have distinct features, they do share many common features such as skin tones, dark eyes, dark hair etc. There are many people who have diverse features and can pass off as multiple ethnicities. Freida Pinto is definitely one of them.

It is problematic when white people are cast in ethnic roles because they don't fit the ethnicity. It is OK to cast another ethnicity as long as they can match the look. Some mixed heritage and white people do have tans and features that match other ethnicities and in that case it becomes OK.
