Saif Plays A Pathological Liar In Mr Chaalu - Reema Kagti

Filmmaker Reema Kagti began her directorial career with a successful comedy Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. After dabbling in the dark in Talaash, Reema returns to the blithe mischievous space in her next film Mr Chaalu which she describes as "cheerful, sunny, though not always funny."

Reema has cast the very interesting Saif Ali Khan in Mr Chaalu.

Reema reveals that Saif plays a pathological liar which is to say, his character can't stop himself from telling lies.

No Indian actor has played that.

Reveals Reema, "Mr Chaalu is a love-story between a pathological liar, played by Saif,and a woman who has OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) about telling the truth."

Quite a pair, is all we can say. Casting Saif as the liar and Kangna Ranaut as the compulsive truth teller should generate immense mirth.

But Reema insists Mr Chaalu is not a comedy. "It is a humorous film about human flaws. Though in a way I am returning to my lighter directorial beginnings in Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, Mr Chaalu has dramatic layers as well as humour."

She says Saif was the first choice for the role. "Saif is ideal for the character. Zoya Akhtar and I often discussed him for the character while we were writing the script."

Revealing the rest of the cast Reema says, "Besides Saif and Kangna Mr Chaalu stars Richa Chadha and Pooja Bhatt. I am still casting for a few other significant parts."

So is she looking forward to a more relaxed chilled-out shooting after the tense Talaash?

Reema protests, "Not at all. As far as I know filmmaking is a never a relaxing activity. We start shooting early next year."
