Katrina Kaif who started shooting for the second schedule of Anurag Basu's Jagga Jasoos last week, says that she is not playing a 22-year-old in the film as reported. "I also read that, but there is no age of any of the characters in the film. I think because people don't know what the movie is about, there's a lot of speculation. Also, Ranbir's (Kapoor) character is only a detective of sorts. He's not a detective in the traditional sense. When you see the film you will understand. Anurag Basu's worlds are very different and you cannot classify them. He creates a world and a vision which is very unique and people are gripped by it because his emotions are so strong," said Kaif, adding that the film is a musical in the traditional sense of the word.
Meanwhile, the actress is revelling under the stupendous success of her just released Bang Bangwhich has raked in Rs.250 crore worldwide in just one week. Another blockbuster in her resume is her last release Dhoom 3 which was the first Indian film to gross over 500 crore!
"It's great! I am very, very happy. Everyone wants their film to do well and be accepted by the audience and when it does you feel good. Bang Bang stayed true to what it promised " an exciting, fun ride so the audience knew what they were going in for. I am not following the collections every day, but as much as I know, the response is good. I am happy. It's nice to know you are a part of something special," admitted the actress who plays the feisty Harleen Sahani in the film.
There have been reports that Hrithik Roshan and director Siddharth Anand are contemplating a sequel to the film. However, being down with flu, she has not met them in the last few days. "Obviously there are a lot of plans but they have not asked me as yet. But I must mention that Hrithik is very inspirational and a great energy to have on sets. He lives for his films."
Now that she has been a part of so many commercial entertainers, would she consider doing any offbeat film as well? "To me a film has to be interesting to want me to be a part of it. And I consider both Bang Bang and Haider as interesting films, even though people may say that Haider is an offbeat film. But having said that some people would call New York an off- beat film. It had no songs, the characters spoke a lot in English, and it was an unusual set up. In fact,Phantom is also a tight thriller with terrorism as the backdrop. It has no songs and doesn't have your commercial and traditional aspects, and would fall in the same space. For that matter, even Fitoor is a different love story and a completely different world from Jagga Jasoos. So, if you are talking about off-beat films, I think I am going in the right direction," smiled Kaif.
Interestingly, she has no interest in doing an international project and admits candidly that if she has to rise and achieve anything more, it would be here in India. "For me, it is not an achievement to go to America. If I can achieve more I want to do it here. But yes, dance is a passion and a film where dance is weaved into the story would be something nice to do," she admitted.
