Mahajan passes away

He was one of Indias best cinematographers

K K Mahajan (1944-2007), one of the most renowned cinematographers of Indian films, passed away in Mumbai early on Friday, July 13, after a prolonged illness. He was 63.

The contribution of K.K. Mahajan to the Indian cinema is immense. He started his career in the late sixties. He studied at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and received his first break in the film, Bhuvan Shome, in 1968-69. He has won four national awards for cinematography and many other national and international accolades. He was miraculous with lighting. He has over 80 features films and 20 documentaries to his credit. Mahajan set new landmarks with his work in films such as Ek Din Achanak, Uski Roti, Rajnigandha and Mayadarpan.
