Varun, Sidharth, Arjun and Sonakshi have come together for a video conceptualised by Shakun Batra

After his Alia Bhatt (Genius of the Year) video went viral, director Shakun Batra has now come up with a promo clip for the Mumbai Film Festival which begins in the city on October 14.

Mirror has learnt that Shakun, convinced Student of The Year actors Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, 'good friends' Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor, his Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu hero Imran Khan, buddies Huma Qureshi and Anurag Kashyap and old pals Imtiaz Ali and Rajkumar Hirani to feature in the video. The Bollywood biggies will emphasise the need to keep MAMI alive in the city and share stories about why the annual celebration of cinema means so much to them. It has been directed by the National Awardwinning duo, Satyanshu and Devyanshu Singh.

When contacted, Shakun told Mirror: "This is a first for the industry. Everybody took time out of their schedules to back MAMI. And they are not charging a rupee. They are doing it for cinema and the films that have inspired, moved and entertained them down the years. I'm only the creative advisor. The initiative has been put together by Anupama Chopra and her team."

Could not read the whole article but going by the title and the pictures posted in it, the only difference between Kalki/Imran's video and the others is that Kalki and Imran's videos revolved around the topic and not the celebrity unlike the other actors-which is something that I really appreciate of Kalki and Imran. About the others, less said the better.

The self-generated publicity works in Alia and Ranveer's case because it is not fake; that is how they are as people.

Deepika must not try to make a video on women's rights to copy them. It will be a career limiting move. That is not who she is.

The thing about this sort of publicity is that, it cannot be fabricated.

And following big celebs like SRK, Big B, et al is one of the first few things they do after registering on the social networking sites.

I am talking about masses in general. Yes even rickshaw wallahs etc have begun to use mobile and Internet but still it is a long way to go.

Then someone pointed about these viral videos making news on TV, papers etc. That helps but only to limited extent as many are still clueless what these Twitter, Whatsapp, Facebook etc are. I know enough people who have laptops, tablets, smartphones with internet but do not know their way around most apps. They can watch videos or listen to music at most. Or they keep asking younger people how to do something.

What I meant was that there is still time before online stuff actually makes tangible influence on real people in country. Stage is still nascent.
