Mumbai: If one believed that only cinema and cricket were equally popular in India, then it's time to change the perception.

Other sports besides cricket, of late, are getting the much-needed and deserved attention. Bollywood's effort in telling the tale of legendary sportspersons, is certainly worth a mention.

After Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' and Mary Kom', Hindi Cinema gears up to unfold the life and times of Hockey legend Dhyan Chand.

The legendary sportsman won three Olympic Gold medals for the country and had scored over 400 goals during his career as a Hockey player.

Here's how Karan Johar took to Twitter to break the news:

Hmm Aamir..well then the project will garner huge hype.

I hope none of the newcomers get cast in this one though pls.especially not the Dharma proteges.Their plates are more than full.Also I dont feel good abt the young lads playing with body and physique constantly

Maybe this will release in 2016 or 2017 or 2018. SidM can still do it hopefully.

Itna sa announcement? Who is the director, main lead etc.? When will it release? Kuch toh batao!

Dhyanchand's uniform will be designer. And the hockey stick will be colorful and pretty. And the small house his dad had will be a palatial bungalow

Sid is doing too many movies belonging to risky genres right now(which also consumes a lot of time in his schedule).He needs to balance the serious stuff with some light hearted romcom/pure commercial entertainer.

I think Kjo may opt for the Khans/Ranbir or even Ranveer.
