I hope everyone remembers that today is Gandhi Jayanti, aisa isliye kaha k kyunki aaj kal log stars ko yaad rakhte hai, real stars ko nhi, i have seen that many people dont even remember Gandhi, sounds strange na, but its truth
Gandhiji's birthday is celebrated as "International Non-Violence Day"

Gandhiji is remembered only on two days: 2nd oct and 3oth Jan (his birthdate n death date) and what tribute we give him on these days , just 2 mins silence, how selfish of us na?
he has sacrificed so much for us, he went jail many times, we cant even count his favours, have you ever realised what you have given him?
ofcourse he dont want big statues to be built for him nor big gifts
The best gift n best tribute for him would be following his foot prints, doing what he wanted us to do, following his idealogy and making our country the one which he dreamt of

His principles were "Ahimsa" n "satyagraha"
how many of us follows it?
he taught us, "if someone slaps you on one cheek, give your other cheek" but we do opposite, "if someone slaps us once, we give back with interest"

he taught "all humans are equal, dont discriminate" but we do exactly opposite and that too proudly

Instead of giving tribute of 2 minute silence, lets promise ourselves to follow his footsteps n keep him alive: in our thought, in our philosophy, in our acts, this will be true tribute to him

Some of his famous quotes:
  1. "Be the change that you wish to see in the world."
  2. Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.
  3. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
  4. I cannot teach you violence, as I do not myself believe in it. I can only teach you not to bow your heads before any one even at the cost of your life.
  5. "Seven social sins: politics without principles, wealth without work, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, commerce without morality, science without humanity, and worship without sacrifice."
  6. "An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it. Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self sustained."
  7. "An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind."
  8. "When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it-always."
  9. "Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.
  10. "You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty."
  11. "Each night, when I go to sleep, I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I am reborn."
  12. "Change yourself - you are in control."
  13. "To believe in something, and not to live it, is dishonest."
  14. "Men often become what they believe themselves to be. If I believe I cannot do something,it makes me incapable of doing it. When I believe I can,I acquire the ability to do it even if I didn't have it in the beginning.'
  15. "If you want something really important to be done you must not merely satisfy the reason, you must move the heart also."

Yep, ur right instead of the 2 min silence we should honour his sacrifices by implementing his ideologies in our daily life.

Naseem like all politicians you also forgot that today is Shastri Jayanti too. Our second Prime Minister Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri who gave the slogan of "Jai Jawaan Jai Kisan" was born on sane day i.e. 2nd October in year 1904. As per Shastriji... jawaan and kisaan are the twi main builders of the country. He was the one who forced Pak Army to surrender in Indo Pak war in 1965... but alas today nobody remembers him.

So it should be Happy Gandhi Jayanti and Happy Shastri Jayanti. And it would be happy in true sense when we adap one per cent of their principles in our lives.
