Why didn't the movie ashoka work??

Really everytime I watch that movie, I just love it.
It gives me game of thrones kind of setting vibe.
I mean its so simple but very pretty.
The story might be fake, the love story, but still the war and stuff were real.
Plus I cried when that kid died in the end.
And srk was very good as ashok. I mean he was like the typical warrior hero at one time and the villain at next.
And bebo wasn't bad either.
Sucks that it didnt do any good to srk or bebo.

The movie is far from the actual history. They made up the Ashoka Kaurwaki's love story...
Might have offended Indian Historians 😆
And imo Kareena was pretty bad 😛 And there was a lot of skin show too...you know how we Indians are 😉


But I love this movie , The songs , Sets , BGM , actors especially Shahrukh 😃 He was amazing!

You missed the best part-loved the songs of the movie-raat ka nasha, san sanana, and roshni se! Such a fantastic album! And evergreen!!:)

Yeah kareena overacted a lot back then.
Likr in Mein prem ki deewani hoon and mujhse dosti karonge.
Yeah the love story was fake but I stilled loved it! 😃
jodha akbar and prithvi raj chauhan were fakes as well though!

I loved Ashoka...I watched it numerous times..So romantic..specially after their marriage where they were romancing..Awww😛😳

Bad screenplay. Not what ppl expected to see. But it has great songs and sexy kareena.

Ashoka is the most revered emperor. Firstly SRK is a puny guy and utter miscast for such a role. His gelled hair and typical mannerisms only made him a butt of jokes. Secondly this is not history. This is not what Ashoka was famous for. Third, it was slow paced.

It was boring. But I liked the songs and Kareena and Srk chemistry. I disagree bebo wasn't bad in the film. It was one of her critically acclaimed film after Refugee. I esp liked her in the scene where she is in the middle if the war yelling at Srk..for a new actress that was pretty brilliant acting.

Skin show is not the reason for failure. Skin show exists in mythos also yet no one minds it. Problem was casting, story and treatment.
