SRK in Raj Kumar Hirani’s next?

The latest buzz in the industry is that Shah Rukh Khan has agreed to work in Raj Kumar Hirani's next film based on Chetan Bhagat's bestseller Five Point Someone. Although nothing has been confirmed, sources close to the superstar say that Khan is very keen to do the project.
"Shah Rukh had heard the idea of the film a while back. Earlier Raj Kumar Hirani had approached him for Munnabhai which he had turned down… but now he is keen to work with him," says the source.

However, according to the source finding dates to shoot the movie with Khan are proving to be a problem. "Shah Rukh has just returned from a holiday and he has a lot to catch up on. First there is Chak De India, then Om Shanti Om and after that Karan's movie might go on the floors," he says, "But one thing is for sure that if Shah Rukh has decided to do the movie then he will ensure that he makes the time."

Raj Kumar Hirani is currently in the midst of finalising things for the third instalment of Munnabhai which will be shot in the US. Currently travelling, neither the director nor his office confirmed the news. But a close associate of the director has also confirmed that talks are on.

"I don't have the final details and therefore I cannot say for sure that the deal is signed and sealed. But I do know that Raju was talking to SRK about the film. And from SRK's response it looked like he was keen to work on the film," he says.

Well it sure looks like Shah Rukh is trying to make good his last loss when turned down the Munnabhai role that was eventually performed by Sanjay Dutt.

The novel is about the adventures of three students - Hari Kumar, Ryan Oberoi and Alok Gupta - pursuing mechanical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT) who fail to cope with the grading system of the IITs and come to be known as five pointers due to their perennially low 5.something GPA's. Narrated largely in the first person by Hari the novel deals with the lives of the three friends whose elation on making it to one of the best engineering colleges in India is quickly deflated by the rigor and monotony of academic work. Most of the book deals with the numerous attempts by the trio to cope with and/or beat the system as well as Hari's fling with Neha who just happens to be the daughter of Prof. Cherian, the sadistic head of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
It is one of the highest selling English novels published in India, and has remained on the bestseller list until 2007 since its release in 2004. It was also adapted into a play by the theatre group Madras Players.

Chetan Bhagat's second novel One Night @ the Call Center has already been made into a movie by Atul Agnihotri and the starcast includes Gul Panag, Isha Koppikar, Sharman Joshi with special appearances from Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
