I feel like I am trying hard to like Humsafars. There is too much consistency in how Gul creates her characters and weaves her story. So, while Asad was the Black Coffee type guy, Sahir is eating Burnt Toast, which I think is very very very weird. I feel as if Gul has taken her juxtapositions, her "symbolism", her "contrasts" way too far this time, and a bit over the top. They are very evident, because they shout out at you from the rooftop. There is nothing subtle about these comparisons. And, this is what I disliked. It's like she is trying to shove them to me, push them through my throat. Ah, how I miss the subtle contrast of ZGH, for that matter.

So far, I feel like Humsafars doesn't offer anything new to someone who has not watched a Gul show. I will wait and watch, but I see "Gul" written over every scene, every character. And, Allah knows, that the "Allah knows" is also a bit annoying! :) As is the "three word" name of the lead male character. :). Haan, naam mein wazan hai, but well, lol.

But, like I said, I am willing to give this a few weeks. If I still feel that I am compelling myself to watch it, I'll pass. If she grips my attention, Gul I mean, I am sold.

In some ways, I feel like U do. But I wouldn't compare with ZGH, because there is no way we R getting anything like that unless HS is a 40 episode show.😉

'Allah knows' annoys me too...may be she will drop it after sometime.😉

There is Gul written in every scene- True.😆

What could be different is the way she caters the same situations to suit different couples. When U know repetitions are inevitable, perhaps finding the contrast in the similarity would help. 😊

Myself going through a see saw. But then, that is how every Gul show starts for me.😊

Hmm black or white ?? Maybe he is GRAY n comes across as black ..and yes white is definitely not what I will associate sahir with ...

Too ,many symbolism and typical gul but a safe time tested formulae
And if this show offers me entertainment after a day of work n stress...I am all for it ..cliche or not ..or old wine In a new bottle ...all is ok 😳

Chicksoup ji...

Not comparing to ZGH, but somehow the opening contrasts gave me the feels. It was more natural. And, I remember how the contrasts were there too, but much subtle. I am not shunning the show yet, will watch just to see what Gul does differently here... Because she will have to. :) I am in the minority perhaps if I say that I did not like Geet, or IPK (tried watching them after) and that QH lost its flavor for me after Holi special almost. I am a pro at fault finding , to be honest and could find faults even in the coveted Mangalpur track, but I usually keep my thoughts to myself. Just cause this is gossipgirl's post, I can take the liberty to say out some of them loud. :)
