episode 289

"chase after the truth like all hell and you'll free yourself, even though you never touch its coat tails."
~~~ clarence darrow ~~~
"... ooka kidnap hui gawa..."
with this dramatic declaration by mami ji started the episode that would go into the revelation of kidnap and in fact, intent to murder, before the raizada family.
i watched the episode quite fascinated i have to say. i knew what had bothered me by the end of the three episode sequence where asr never spoke. but on the first day, the structure seemed interesting.
looking at the placing of people in the frame... the movements of various persons or their staying in fixed positions, the parallel with chess has come up again and again.
i don't much understand the game, though i have played it a couple of times. but the sense of game... a game where moves will matter like hell, and the board can turn swiftly and disconcertingly did come through.
what it all most reminded me of was the hindi movie court room drama, if i may guffaw and add, wigs and blind lady justice included. only that the lady was more blind than just and all too human in the end.
khushi and shyam were like the two lawyers holding their brief, she the prosecutor, he the defence guy. they were fighting their own case. anjali was the one they both homed in on to convince of the details of the case. in a way, she was the judge.
the others were the spectators and jury both, and though we don't have the jury system in our courts... there was that element here. their opinion counted.
two witnesses really...
the first was the prosecution witness who turned... my sweet manorama. at last i understood why they made khushi come up with the goofy plan of asking shyam to divorce anjali. mami, already feeling distanced and shut out, would see this game through her binoculars, somehow through those she never sees the truth, does she. and she will stop trusting khsuhi entirely.
the second was the witness named after the ultimate game player... nand kishore, nk... in his clean guileless "sakha" form. he will remain true.
and there was asr, a bit away from it all, even maybe a bit above. the silent one who watched the proceedings, who perhaps doesn't want to be perceived as taking sides, knowing the two most important people in his life are involved and this denouement could be catastrophic for both or one of them.
what intrigued me about how it was all told:
the girl who had convinced the skeptic that the issue is not about rational truth or falsehood, it's a matter of vishwas or faith... life brought her to a point where she she had to grapple with truth... sach. she had to prove it. everything in fact depended on it.
perhaps khushi has come to the end of her tether. i think everything went haywire in her when she realised the plan was to kill asr. kidnap she could maybe still deal with, but the death of arnav ji? if i see it from that angle, i can understand her needing to bring all of it out finally. and sanaya looked tired, almost hysterical, hellbent on getting the culprit exposed. something natural in that.
she confirmed it was a kidnap, she said it wasn't for ransom, she revealed the terrible plan... they meant to kill arnav ji. during the course of the episode she also explained, the whole thing was about property.
suddenly, khushi who had kept so many things hidden, seemed absolutely desperate to have everything out in the open. can't blame her. two crazy weeks and actually watching someone contemplate burning your husband down can take anyone to the edge where you break free of social norms and checks and say, enough!
as many questions flew around and asr realised his sister needed to be calmed down, the basic design of the "trial" got going. khushi spoke... mami created little hurdles while shyam played the slimy lawyer to the hilt, rendering all evidence inadmissible on some pretext or the other.
today, asr might have let things be, but not khushi...
"haan, di, yeh sach hai," yes, di, this is true, with that khushi brought up sach/truth for the first time that day.
shyam was the one to say jhoot/lie and saboot/proof first.
she knew whom the truth would effect the most, so on halting yet determined steps she moved straight to anjali and held her hand, and she said,
di, hum jaantey hain ki hamrai sach kahne se aapko bahut dukh hoga
bahut taqleef bhi hogi
lekin ab humse aur bardasht nahin hota
humey aapko sach batana hi hoga
aur...
aur ss...ssach yeh hai ke...
her tongue trembled on the sach... it was so difficult to actually reveal the truth.
mami butted in. don't start another ramayan, phatti saree. ramayan, hmmm... i had to think, so the silent one is playing a ram perhpas? holding aloof and letting sita go through her agni pariksha alone? not good. not asr.
khushi still refused to let go. today her eye is trained on the target with that singular focus of arjuna. now that i think... in the last two episodes, again and again she has collapsed and said she can't do this thing any more, ghin ati hai... and nk has counselled her... told her she is doing it all for her husband. this is her duty. reminds one of the first chapters of gita... krishna telling the bereft arjuna, lift your gandiva. do your duty. no matter how hard and harsh it may seem.
there are actually parts of gita i find hard to digest, and then there are these absolutely beautiful and stunning things.
among my favourites of course, yada yada hi dhramasya... whenever evil comes and tries to overrun the world, i will come myself to vanquish wrong... sambhavami yuge yuge. nah, it is not by chance that nk is called that, nor that he is chosen as khushi's counsel. and the way he appears suddenly out of the blue, just as the evil strikes at the righteous with one more slaying of her evidence... nice.
"woh insaan yahin hai," that person is here, khushi avered.
"iss kamre mein..." in this room.
"sabke saamne..." in front of everyone.
all along shyam had tried in very slimy lawyer vein to stay out of the way of any litigation. he just watched to see which way it all went. he looked shocked when mami said she knew. i wondered why... mami and khushi had gone to rocky's place together and later to the godown. anyway, khushi was relentless and in a rather hindi movieishly written way, she finally turned and faced him and said...
"hai na, shyam ji?"
isn't that so, shyam ji?
of course, shyam realised there was no escape now, he had to defend himself and so rushed over to his raanisahiba.
"aaj sabke saamne hum aapka parda phash karenge," today in front of everyone i'll expose you said khushi, assertive and determined. arjuna, who has gotten up and is now ready for battle.
while shyam, the duryodhan of this story, laid his chakravyuh by sowing doubt, ridiculing, challenging every word and asking for material evidence, then throwing that away as invalid. he even alleged the warrior had transgressed her limits by entering his and his raanisahiba's private chambers. all along he clung to his wife and tried to gauge the mood, swing it in his favour. the jury was so important here.
or so ha ha he thought.
di freaked. asr watched. shyam took advantage of anything he could.
anjali said to khushi what she had said to mami, "aapko koi bhram hua hoga..." you are imagining things. her illusion would not be shattered.
and the baat sach ya jhoot girl became desperate to prove sach...
"jhoot hai yeh, bakwas hai bilkul..." countered shyam, and asked for proof.
i am glad in all this, khushi said plainly, she had made asr sign the papers.
of course, her phone was gone with all the pictures of the will and the voice recording; and the blood on shyam's shoes could have belonged to anyone.
in the middle of all this came nk. and after a mysterious serial type pause, he readily said, khushi was speaking the truth.
his spontaneous hug to nannav and the you did it! to khushi were sweet and infectious. something pristine about this character. hard to imagine he belongs to a serial. though they did make him pause and say nothing for no reason today.
the courtroom drama would have been interesting if they had found a way to let asr beat shyam to a pulp the moment he started saying filthy things about khushi. but i think again and again, the creatives fell in love with form over content. and what seemed very clever started becoming rather empty and lost connection with the viewer.
and...
~ would have been nice if someone offered the man who came home after g knows how long, in a vest with cuts, bruises and filth all over, a glass of water, the use of the loo, a little rest and food, before starting off the commotion.
~ shyam had a cut on the cheek just like asr? whom should i get assassinated for this, c'mons tells me.
~ just about where they stand now and have this trial, and khushi's character is challenged, in episode 67 khushi had had a loopy dream/nightmare about her chief culprit asr. she was the judge. it was a lovely light piece. but there too the defendant had been aggressive and threatened her... she had quaked but held on. we are going to see another rendition of that here. only now it's a real life nightmare.
Sitting by her husband's eternal heaven his poolside, laying her head back Khushi is ebbing in the thought of her Arnavji, the love of her life. she closes her eyes to conceal the turbulent emotions frothing at the surface, battling hard to break free. Tears brim and flows from her closed eyelids.
In the dark warehouse, Arnav hollers Khushi, but Khushi is nowhere. He buries his head on his folded arms, what are kept on his knees. Darkness again envelopes around him, like the moon gets veiled by dense swathes of dark clouds make the night even darker. He lifts his face up. His handsome features are marred by intense pain; his eyes have the somber expression of a person intensely lost in thoughts. To mollify his tumultuous heart he tries to submerge in the cocoon of Khushi's thought.
And the gust of wind starts to blow wafting his mind to Khushi, so that he can talk to her and she can hear him.
Khushi sun skate Ho Mujhe. Can you hear me?... he says with billow of emotions.
Hamesha...always...her mind is completely overtaken by him.
tum tare dekh rani Ho Na...you are watching stars, right?
Khushi nods her head and looks at the sky, says, apke aur Humare Amma babu ji ko dekh rahi Hoon...watching your and my parents.
Humara parents ko...he swallows hard to control his emotion.
Tum he Pata he Yeh Baat Mujhe Ek saal pehele kahi hoti to maine usse Bishwas nahi karta. Lekin aaj, Mujhe Lagta he Ki Yeh Baat sach hai.
(You know, if any body told this to me one year ago, I wouldn't believe him. But today, I think it's true)...his voice sounds tired but it is seeped with a touching need to have his lonely heart assuaged to be reassured by any means possible.
Humne apse tab Bhi Kaha Tha na ki Baat sach ya jhoot Ki nahi, Baat Bishwas Ki. Ek atoot Bishwas.
( I told you then, it's nothing about true or false, it's about your credence. A strong credence.)
Tumne Mujhe Yeh Bishwas Pe Bishwas dilaya. (You made me believe this fact)
ye Kya Kar diya Khushi Tum Ne mere saath...what have you done to me...he smiles with disbelief.
Itni koshish Ki Maine. Itni zada koshish Ki tumse nafrat Kar Sakoo. par Mai tumse nafrat Kar hi Nahi Paya. Mera Khud Ka Dil meri Baat hi nahi maan Paya.
( I tried so hard, tried so hard to hate you. I just couldn't hate you. My own heart couldn't make me understand.)
He says in voice laden with contrition. Yes he hadn't been able to completely thwart a feeling of self doubt that had been gnawing at his heart ever since he met her. Unbeknownst to himself, she had permeated in his heart and seeped deep in his soul, slowly, stealthily and with infinite gentleness.
Aur humne Kitni koshish Ki apse Pyaar Na Karneke Liye. Lekin humari Dil Ne Bhi humari Baat nani mani...she shuts her eyes to control her emotions.
You know Khushi, Mai jab Bhi Tumhari Paas Hota hoon...his voice is deep dense with emotion. Hamesha tumse door Jaane Ki jaldi mei reheta Hoon.
Lekin jaise hi tumse door jata Hoon, Hamesha Tumhare Paas aneka khayal reheta hai. I don't need anything else Khushi. I don't need anything.
His voice constricts more and his adam apple bulbs up and down as he swallows in an attempt to thwart a rising wave of emotions.
Aap Paas Rahoon ya door, lekin Ho to humari saath hi Na.
Yeh dooriyan humari rishton Ko Kaam Zore nahi Bana sakte hai Na.
Jo Ki hum Ek doosre Ke sun sakte hai, mehsos Kar sakte hai.
Ek doosre Se bate Kar sakte hai. Abhi Bhi hum Baat hi to Kar Rahee Na.
(you stay near or far, but you are always with me, this distance can weakens our relationship, because we can hear each other, feel each other, talk to each other. That exactly what we are doing right now.)
Arnav nods his head and a glimmer of smile glints his face.
Aap humare sath hai Aur door, bohot jaldi, aap Humko wapaas Le ayenge.
Aur Yeh humari wada hai apse arnavji.
(you are with me or far from me, pretty soon I will bring you back. and it's my promise to you.)
He smiles as if he is hearing her and having credence in her words.
Khushi touches her chest where her heart is hammering behind her rib cage.
Dhak Dhak Dhak Dhak
Can you hear my heart beat? aap sun sakte hai Humari dil Ki Dhadkan?
Hamesha,,...he nods his head. Hamesha; he aspirated to utter Hamesha as if the assurance made their heart assailed with fresh reservation.
After talking to each other they felt as their pent up misery finally found a release and their face beheld a perfect mirror of tranquility. Both leans down their head behind, tries to feel each other. Though they are looking decadent, but a deluge of indecipherable and powerful feelings of love washes across their hearts, as their love and trust dilute.
They were in soliloquy, but it was actually a conversation between them what is nothing but some kind of sublime telepathy.
In the wake of realization there raged some severe tempest in their life which threatened to throw thoughts, emotions and every thing else that stood in its path, into complete chaos. But in spite of that only one thought reigned supreme over this inner, conflict ravaged landscape...their unconditional love. It was intermingled with heartache, abhorrence, bittersweet memories, a burgeoning desire, what is blessed with something wonderful called love, a love that avowed to cross all obstacles.
Khushi is lying down on her bed, looks derelict without Arnav. Suddenly the power goes off. She gets scared and sits up in fear. She recollects how Arnav brought fireflies for her. But when the fire lies flew away, she was not scared at all, cause Arnav was there by her side as a protector, the light of her life. As she can't see him anywhere, a pensive thought broke through the hovering cloud of gloom. She suddenly feels that somebody entered her room. Arnav's name comes out from her mouth involuntarily.
It's Shyam who came with the candle. He thought she must be scared, that's why he brought light for her. In the dark room, shyam's presence felt sinister. He now dares to come in Arnav's bed room in the night. How gradually he is encroaching Arnav's possession, disgruntled me. Khushi is in revulsion to see him in her room, but she tries to dissimulate.
Shyam says she should not feel awkward, as he will not do any such thing what can make her uncomfortable. He says, as both of their intention is same, they should be united. When Khushi looks at him with bafflement, he mends that we should support each other and she must know how he feels for her. Before leaving he says that she must asks him whatever she wants. After he left Khushi utters Arnavji with so much longing. She is missing him so much and wishing if Arnav was here to protect her from that filthy man!
When Khushi was still embroiling in the vortex of tumultuous thought, NK comes there. She initially got scared to see his silhouette, thought Shyam came back again. Nk can sense her embroilment. He tells her to relax. But Khushii is woebegone; she feels infernal inwardly, to act with Shyam. He tries to touch her in any excuse. When she sees nk's bewilderment, she controls immediately. Nk is ambiguous, what did she mean! Khushi prevaricated the truth and says because of work purpose she has to be around him, what she is not liking at all. She thinks as Shyam is very cunning, they have to be careful. Nk tries to comfort her, that's why they should ignore and focus on their goal. Khushi assents him and she also came to know how to handle Shyam. She has to keep a keen eye on him. NK supports her, they will sure endeavor.
Payal fears to go to office party with Akash. She is asking him who are coming and all. Akash can sense her awkwardness, so he tells her if she feels uncomfortable, she doesn't have to go. Payal feels good. But when she calls bua to tell her that she didn't go with Akash, bua chides her, she made a mistake, she should go with him. Payal becomes sad. bua tells her to come to her place, she will teach her everything.
Bua is Payal's mentor. 😆 Payal tu to gayi kamse!
Shyam is having problem with his goondas. Rocky tells him about the problem. Shyam tells him to pay them more money and keep them shut.
I am surprised, where did some get so much money!
When he was scolding rocky on the phone, Khushi comes there with kheer. She brought kheer for Anjali. Shyam tells Anjali is not here, but she can leave the kheer here. Khushi thanks him for the last night, as he brought candle for her. She is scared of darkness Shyam tells her rhetorically that, he will not let the darkness come near her. Khushi abominates but tells him to eat the kheer. Shyam tells her to feed him with her hand. When he sees khushi's awkwardness he tells her not to misunderstand him. As both of their aim is same and as a Shagun, she should feed him a spoon. Khushi fells in to a predicament, what she supposed to do, to win his trust she should feed him. She cringes inwardly with abhorrence. Her trembling hand rises up to feed him. Shyam ogles her lasciviously. But Anjali reprieves her by entering there right then. She gets a bit incredulous to see Khushi feeding Shyam, but doesn't ponder her thought when Khushi says that she brought kheer for her and jijaji wanted to taste, so she was feeding him. As she came now, she should feed him. Anjali trusts her and happily goes to feed her swindler husband. Khushi looks at Shyam with embroilment. Shyam also looks at her tries to comfort her.
Bua is teaching Payal how to tame Akash. She thinks she should sing and use her eyes to seduce him. When Payal doesn't get what she was saying bua chides her, that she is a budhuu.
really she is a dolt, a dumbo.
Khushi tells NK about shyam's phone convo. She is sure Shyam is going to give those goons money. Nk thinks to follow him. Khushi also wants to accompany him.
She hears Shyam is telling Anjali that he is going outside. Khushi comes on his way and asks him where is he going?
Shyam doesn't tell the truth but he can stay back if she doesn't want him to go. Khushi says, he should go.
Khushi thinks it's a very good opportunity to follow him, to see where he goes.
Sohara, I can read the top few lines multiple times and still wanting to read again... beautifully laid their emotions in separation. The symbolic thought of he burying his face in his folded arms.. and burying in khushi's thoughts is very strikingly beautiful... 👏
The characters of these two have been etched with such finesse that we could believe in their magical transportation into the other's world effortlessly...
Your edits are killers.. specifically loved the khushi's one with all blue tones reflecting her mood.. the pool side, its ripples and stunning shades have been wonderfully caught by the makers and here you...
lastly thanks a ton for that vm, I must say it transported me some where.. such neatly picked shots from teej, guest house, Diwali.. all the golden times...wonderful creation.. after all the many watches of the episodes, it pleasures me that I still have so many new creations of ipk unknown to me..
thank you sohara.. very nice take and trip all around..
Episode-279
Khushi and NK follows Shyam. They see that rather taking home car Shyam is taking some other car, so that nobody can suspect him.
Shyam suddenly feels that some car is following him and it's the car of raizada house. He anticipates whether it's Khushi or not. He still doesn't trust her completely and calls her to find out. He asks her where is she? Khushi lies that she is at home with naniji. Unfortunately a car honks on the road, what makes Khushi aghast and Shyam suspicious. He is sure that Khushi is lying and following him. Shyam parks his car in a place for two hours and leaves through a different way by auto. Khushi and NK can't follow him further as he disappeared.
Khushi comes home with consternation. She was in phone with NK, but cuts the call anticipating Shyam, but it is actually naniji. Khushi gets emotional and hugs nani in fear. Or was it an humbug! didn't not get it. She takes nani in her room and starts to chitchat with her loudly. Shyam enters the house right then and he hears Khushi and nani's loud conversation. He gets ambiguous, if Khushi is at home, then who was following him! Khushi sighs a relief and thanks her DM for saving her.
NK asks Khushi how she came to know that Shyam would come home to check her! Khushi knew the cunning Shyam sure would come to check her. They are cogitating where could he go, and why he didn't return where he parked the car? Khushi needs to know the answers of so many questions; whom he is giving money, where did he keep Arnav, when they will leave him etc. she also gets confused whether she is going on the wrong track or not. She knows what happened and who did it and she also will come to know where Arnav has been kept. But why, why did he kidnap Arnav and not asking for ransom and why Shyam doesn't want to let the family know about Arnav's kidnapping. And what is the motive behind Arnav's kidnapping.
"When I'll come to know the answer, the answer will lead me to Arnavji. I just need to know the answers of my questions."
NK also assents her, they need to know the motive of Shyam. But how! They should think about it. NK asks her, once she was suspicious about Shyam, what was the matter. Khushi says he tricked her that time by saying that he is making new house for Anjali.
Suddenly a thought comes to her mind about the money transaction. She remembers he withdrew 500000 rupees from bank and today she also heard that he was talking about the money. NK thinks they can get some information through his bank statement. Khushi knows the bank name, it's Divya jyoti bank. But how can it help them in their investigation! Khushi thinks if they find out his recent transaction, they will come to know, to whom he gave money and can find the clue of the kidnappers. But how will they get to know about his bank statement! An idea comes to NK's mind and next morning he plans to execute the idea.
NK and Khushi's cahoot is going to the right direction, but aren't they gyrating too much! Why they are not hiring some detective agency, I mean the pragmatic one, not some comedy like Prithvi PDA. As NK got involved he can help Khushi financially. I wish he is not poor like Khushi!
Payal is following bua's instruction. When Akash wakes up in the morning, she moves her eyes weirdly. Rather making Akash attracted, he gets distracted. He thinks Payal got some problems in her eyes and he thinks to call a doctor. He doesn't even want her to bring tea for him; he just wants her to take rest.
Frustrated Payal calls bua. Bua asks her enthusiastically did her way work? Payal says her it didn't work and Akash thought she became sick. Bua get confused, she must not used it in the right way. She should try her other trick of Kajra and Chameli Ka tel.
"Uska Aisa mehekai Dena Ki Uska chaman chaman Ho jaaye ga. Aaj dekh Na Chameli Ka tel Ka chamatkar."
Bua made me laugh for sure.
Shyam gets mad at hp for accidentally dropping water on his pendent. NK who came to borrow laptop from him, gets incredulous to see his inconsequential anger. He sees him rather drying his shirt, he is drying his pendant. The pendent looks really weird.
Shyam agrees to lend his laptop to NK for some times. NK tells him he will return soon.
In the breakfast table nani asks Khushi did she keep aside the Prasad for chottey? She wants to know when he is coming back. It's good to see that nani is concerned for Arnav. His beloved di doesn't look concerned at all,her husband is with her and she is happy.
Khushi looks at Shyam with agitation as if she wants to know the answer from him, albeit he misinterprets her look.
Mami also wants to know from Khushi what is the news about Arnav!
Nani says Anjali was saying that he has gone for few days only, but why he is taking too much time to return? Or moreover he just called once after he left. Mami utters the ultimate truth by accidentally saying she thinks Arnav is in a big trouble. Khushi tries to prevaricate as she has to be meticulous with every thing, can't take risk with Arnav's life. She says nani that she just talked to Arnav this morning. Nani jeers her, now chottey will call his wife only. Khushi smiles to hear her jests. But Mami retorts, she is very anxious for Arnav. Khushi tries to mollify them, they must not be worried for him, they only should worry one thing that he is not liking the weather over there.
Shyam smiles to hear khushi's smart reply. Nani is still worried for chottey. She thinks, it would be better if she could talk to him one more time. she is worrying for him. Mami adds, no calls, no message, it's a matter to get worried.
Nani asks Khushi did he tell her when he is coming back?
Nani seems really worried for him. The granny actually loves and takes care of these two orphan grandchildren like a mother. And nanis and dadis are always like this.
Aww I miss my nanijaan, she loves me a ton.
Khushi can't answer answer but her eyes flinch as if that question has struck her physically and even as they shine with a thin film of moisture; her heart becomes swamped by heavy clouds of moisture.
NK tries to find Shyam's bank statement. But the computer is too slow that it takes time. And finally he can manage to see his bank statement.
Shyam tells Anjali that he is going to meet some client. When Anjali comes to close the door, she sees Shyam is going with Khushi. She gets a bit incredulous, why he lied while he is going with Khushi!
After signing the papers in lawyer's office Shyam brings Khushi in a road side tea stall.
Gosh shyam is so cheap that brought Khushi in such cheap place!
Khushi also came as she had to win his trust. The thought of Arnav's rescue, causes her heart immune to all reasons and logic.
Shyam mutters himself that Khushi passed this exam, but she yet didn't tell him about Arnav's phone call.
When Shyam offers Khushi tea, she refutes, rather she wants to go home. Shyam asks her why she is so restless! If she goes home like this, everybody can suspect her. He thinks by taking him to the lawyer's office, she proved that she trusts him and can help her as well.
Khushi feigns to be angry. Shyam still can't trust her, so far he knows her, she can be so vindictive. Khushi pretends that she is frenetic, cause Arnav has ruined her life; so she has to be indignant.
Shyam is still ambiguous, thinking if she is so enraged on Arnav then why she didn't tell him about the phone call yet? Khushi says grimly, what Arnav is getting, is his punishment. She mentions Arnav's kidnapping, but she is perturbed also not to let the family knows about it. She is tensed, who are these kidnappers and what do they want!
Shyam trickily asks her does she suspect anybody.
She doesn't know who are they but one thing she knows if she let the family knows they may harm Arnav and what she doesn't want. Finally she tells him about the phone call, what makes Shyam jovial. She tells him in detail about the phone call, that she wanted to know what Arnav was trying to say, but the phone was cut in the crux of their conversation.
When Shyam looks at her with suspicion she retorts him, why he is looking at her like that, as if she has done something wrong. He is also a bad person, who is beguiling the family.
She gets up and intends to leave. Shyam calls her khushiji, khushiji,
"Mar Gaye Woh Khushi." She dissimulates anger. She continues her shenanigan, she was not like that, sometimes she thinks she is not the same Khushi any more. But Arnav compelled her to be like this.
"This money, property, was meaningless to me. But I have to think about my family and parents. For the sake of them Khushi has to be changed."
Shyam keeps a comforting hand on her shoulder. She seethes in disgust inwardly. inspte of all the maelstrom raging inside her, she tries to be stoic just to enmesh him. his proximity ravages her soul, still she is bearing.
With disgust, she brushes off his hand from her shoulder,
"why I am telling all this to you! Not sympathy, I also can't expect that you can understand."
Shyam thinks she came to know about the truth. May be it's late, but she also came to know that she can trust him. Khushi antagonizes him, he is no less and she hates both of them. Shyam grabs hold of her wrist vehemently to hear her abhorrence.
"After so much happened with you, you are still comparing me with Arnav! Till today, what he has given to you, only loathe!"
Khushi's heart cringes with pain, to hear insinuation of Arnav.
Shyam realizes that he is hurting Khushi, so he leaves her hand and says that till today he only loved her, myriad love. She should consider it for once, for the sake of him. Khushi turns away from him, tries to control her resentment and despise. She looks back with embroilment.
Shyam recollects the first time he met Khushi; she looked just like an angel and he fall in love with her at first sight, completely oblivious of his married status.
pause: At the begining of the show how they delineated Shyam, I never thought that he would turn to be so avaricious! I thought it was just his love for khushi what made him creepy! But like rest of other hindi soaps, they made him regular villain who coveted money, women and all sort of disgusting things.
After Khushi left, Shyam says, she made him wait long, but he is optimistic, at least she thought about him.
Nk comes to khushi's room, he is tensed. He wants to know how far the thing progressed. Khushi tells him that she told Shyam everything. Or moreover he is aware of everything; because he is the master mind of all. Nk wants to know is everything going on according to the plan.
They recollect how they concocted the whole thing.
She intentionally asked money to Anjali in front of Shyam and gave the money to the guy. Later NK paid the guy for helping them.
Khushi remembered while passing Anjali's room, she heard the sound of temple bell and train whistle from the CD what Anjali was listening. She remembered, she heard the same sound while talking with Arnav. And when she asked anjali, she came to know that Shyam gave her the cd. Khushi became sure that this was the same sound what she heard while talking to Arnav. So it is obvious that shyam is behind the kidnapping. But she was dubious also, whether Shyam was trying to misguide them or not! She told NK about her suspicion and the property papers what she signed in lawyer's office . Khushi was intelligent in this phase, but still the entire sleuthing felt fake to me.
NK asks Khushi, what if Shyam uses her signature to hurt Arnav! Khushi knows he won't be able to do such thing. Cause the paper what she signed was fake. she already met Arnav's lawyer Roy and he is a different person. But Shyam doesn't know about it. Khushi wants to return Anjali's money as soon as possible. She wants to get the burden of lie from her shoulder. She became pensive again for Arnav. Her heart breaches to think that she couldn't trace Arnav yet, though she talked to him on the phone, but she is very worried for him. she doesn't know for how long she will have to act with that nefarious man!
NK tries to console her that soon Shyam will help them to reach to Arnav. She should not worry much. Their plan sure will work.
In this time of crisis, NK sure came to Khushi's life like an angel, who incessantly gave her courage and supposrt and helped her as much as possible.
Damn gurl your so beautyfull..
Relaxing on a lounge chair, by the poolside, Shyam is exulting his victory.
Is it the same poolside of Arnav's room or another which is also located by Anjali's room!
This anarchy is unbearable. During ASR's absence he is trying to entrench his position in RM. seriously true. specially the way he talks to Khushi.
He thinks that his plan is working well and Khushi is leaning towards him. But she took a long time. He thinks he saw her genuine feelings for him in her eyes, what he has been longing to see. He recalls their convo and khushi's teary eyes. He promises that soon, he will fulfill all of her dreams; he will give her everything, money, comfort and all. Arnav will be out of her life and she will be his closest.
Shyam wants everything of ASR, his money, his property, even his wife!😆
But It disgusted me so much how he envisaged his life with Khushi.😡
By the poolside forlorn Khushi is ebbing in Arnav's thought. her heart wrenches with acute pain and a strong pensive expression lurks in the depths of her eyes. Her mind is whirling in the vortex of incisive thoughts. She is so disturbed and needs some respite to communicate with her parents. By staring at the stars, she reminisces the sweet memories of her beloved arnavji, what remained imprinted in her mind and heart with heart rending, soul searing clarity. Sad rabb vey enters the BG to depict her emotion.
She recollects on the night of diwali, how lovingly he put the anklet around her ankle and how he became so desperate to kiss her.
lovely edit
In the dark warehouse a frazzle out Arnav is sitting on the ground with his back against the wall. He is looking despondent and wretched. In this gloomy air only one person encompasses his thought and it's Khushi. In a flash, his life seemed took a turn towards an unknown destination, left him bewildered and terrified in its wake. his mind begins drifting towards somnolence and seems in glitch of an invisible cocoon. he is suddenly encompassed by a sensation of dj vu. The familiar gust of wind starts to blow and not in person, but she comes in his dream. His body gets taut at the feelings and his spirit leaves his body to a surreal world of love and peace, where he exists with Khushi.
The ambiance of the deserted warehouse changes completely, it is now is embellished with fairy lights which are Khushi's favorites. The air gets rife with fervent passion,
The ethereal beauty, his Khushi appears in front of him, clad in white and blue, rapts him to the world of forbidden fantasy. Fastidious ASR can't accept him in that filthy vest any more. So he also has changed himself to a pristine white shirt, looking irresistibly hot. Her hair is flying in a silken halo and the tiny blue piece on her torso, the flying white dupatta, makes her sexier than ever. There is a bedazzled expression in his eyes. The resplendent beauty illuminates the despondent air of the warehouse. His mesmerized gaze is bringing forth a deluge of warm colors to her cheeks.
The sexy man in white linen and the innocent beauty with silky chestnut hair resembled Romeo and Juliet. such a sweet parallel. but our lovers survived and thrived.
teri meri meri teri
prem kahani hai mushkil.
do lafzon mein yeh bayan na ho paye
ek dooje se hue jooda jab ek dooje ke liye bane
Their song Teri Meri plays. As the song starts, he comes near her and holds her intimately. He touches the bare skin of the intimate parts of her body passionately, makes her heart beat erratic. His own heart also picks up it's rhythm, matching her erratic one. He places his hand on her bare derriere; his hand wraps around her sexy slender waist, He touches her sensitive parts so possessively as if she turned to his wife in true sense. a sensation inhabited, causing their heart to lurch at the sheer enormity of their passion. With so much love, she cups her handsome face in her hand and looks at his eyes with even more passion. Khushi is not a goofy girl any more, Arnav made her a sexy desirable woman.
but she goes away, what makes him woebegone.
Some days back she came to rescue him. they met and he wanted to mark her his own completely. But he had to leave her again. His turbulence also reflects in his dream. But he knows he will come back again, cause, she can't leave her man alone. So she comes back and holds his handsome face with her beautiful hands.. Then again she evanesces.
To have been given hope, to have been shown a glimpse of a dream, only to have it snatched away so soon! So she comes back running towards him. Her supple body slams against his hard back and she encircles him from behind. he turns and holds her in his loving embrace...
tumhe dil jo lagaya toh jahan maine paya
kyun khuda tuney aisa
mujhe khab dikhaya
jab haqiqat mein use todna tha~~~~~
he sings and smiles looking at her eyes.
he pulls her close to him and his soft bosom collides with his hard one. her body stiffens and she glides down her hand from his shoulder and rests it on his chest, where is heart is pounding for her
He looks at his beautiful Khushi with tender love Their faces are so close to each other and their nose touch. a hot molten fire ignites deep inside them. But she goes away again from him, far far away.
He returns from the surreal world to reality and he finds Khushi nowhere. He hollers Khushi...the disconsolate wind whispers to him. Arnav's deep baritone reverberates in the dark room.
By the poolside Khushi also hears his call, so she turns around with eagerness to see him. Rabba ve intensifies. he is nowhere. And in the dark room of the warehouse Arnav buries his head on his folded hands, wishing to be with his Khushi. he can't stop himself from sinking into an abyss of pain.
Teri Meri Collage - Arnav and Khushi are Too Hot to Handle
I tried to see the nuance of the two teri meri sequence. my POV is, in other teri meri they divulged their suppressed love in the form of dance. But this teri meri was not a dance, but a carnal and sublime dream of Arnav, what he wanted to see since he met Khushi. And today after going through a turbulent journey he dared to dream it. beautiful thought. he dared to dream.
Another point I want to notify, the nuance between Arnav's dream and Khsuhi's dream. I guess I already mentioned it before, that Khushi's dream was innocent and romantic. But Arnav's dream is romantic, but extremely carnal and deep. we can easily measure the depth of his love through his dream. I also noticed that in Khushi's dream she was fully covered, but Arnav imagined Khushi in sexy attire, with barely there clothes. It also shows the sexual attraction of Arnav for Khushi. his touch was intimate and seductive and so as Khsuhi's, the Khushi whom he wanted to see, sexy and bold. very interesting reading of the teri meri.
In other teri meri Arnav was a bit controlled to touch her bare skin, but today he doesn't have any hesitation to touch the sensitive parts of her body
My words will be less to describe the passion and sensuality what Barun and Sanaya conveyed in this absolutely sublime teri meri performance.
Wow Sohara finally I read. really enjoyed. and fell completely madly for ASR in your description. Loved your thought that it was his dream which showing his physical attraction and yearning for Khushi. And now he has an even more right over her. When she found him in the warehouse, in her fingers clutching him, in the hugs they shared, in the moments in the hut, he knows she is his. And so he can dare to dream. wild and uncontrolled and full of love..
you had me dreaming while reading this.. lovely gifs and your interpretation. The episode had started off making me feel depressed and then came this sequence and my heart soared. Reading your take brought back the feeling. And ASR is perfect. Like you mentioned even I love the fact that he is this perfect mixture of protector and lover. he wants to cherish her and touch her, have her close and also imagines her fearless and possessive towards him. after all haq hai uska, biwi jo hai.
i have one major question really: why this pace of password typing?
who exactly keys in a password at that slow pace, with little intermittent dithers. this reminds me of hindi films where this electrical wire is burning at one end, heroine is tied to the other or something connected to it... electricity, defying all laws of nature, is travelling very slowly down the wire, while tension mounts as hero tries to reach her slaying dragons and other minor obstacles along the way. lots of intercutting and music crescendoing and stuff.
if there's one thing we key in fast almost without thinking, it's the password. I was very irritating after this episode. came here and ranted about it. and which pen drive has a voice activated code??
when it comes to direction and writing, patchy doesn't even begin to describe it. too many directors, too many writers, to little time and too little spine... not a good recipe for soap quality i guess. talent is of no use if you ain't plannin' to nurture the heck out of it.
so, while there was to my mind the requisite element of ughifying creepiness to shyam's villainy - the girl who pushed him away on the terrace he tried to hug tight in a password, transgressing boundaries, saying what he isn't supposed to, wanting her mere paas mere saath exactly as the man in captivity, and almost touched her, possessed her with his disgusting ploys, making her an intrinsic part of a plan to swindle the man who this very girl loved beyond herself - the execution was lacking in style, majorly.
iloveyoukhushi in all caps does the now-a-little-too-bloated-and-overacting-as-if-he-were-in-a-puja-jatra shyam type.
khushi is shocked while nk writes it down not quite realising what has just transpired.
but finally when it strikes nk, he is the opposite of shyam... abs straightforward; simply asks, what the h is this. that guileless behaviour is refreshing, a much needed feeling of cleanness amid the filth. I was impressed. and also good acting by Karan.
khushi, in the language we women are encouraged to adopt, prevaricative or toned down, as though we should be ashamed the man is all over us, somehow almost blame ourselves even, says, "woh hamare paas aane ki koshish karte hain..." he tries to come near me. huh! near you? he is groping, aggressive, got engaged to you... but khushi is perhaps brought up to look at this whole thing from the pov of "rishtey", so what if you have a hyena in your bed, it is rishtey after all and di's world will be turned upside down. I was aghast at Khushi's reaction. I mean here she has someone whom she can talk to and she brushed it off.. i don't want to talk about it? why? doesn't she feel the need to expose Shyam? atleast for sake of letting NK know the truth. not uphold her honor or any nonsense like that, just speak out the truth.
i loved nk's response... straight forward and really honestly, valid.
we need this thinking to be upheld instead of constantly showing sick men getting away with it in the name of samaj and rishtey.
disgusting... nk exclaims and almost shouts, "
bas, main aur bardasht nahin kar sakta bilkul nahin... this is too much." i can't bear it any more, this is too much. and damn right he is.
he is the clear eyed, innocent defender of the good... we sorely require men like these.
he is like khushi in many ways, but he has been brought up a) outside india where such things are looked at more objectively and, b) as a man, not a girl. khushi has been taught to be "circumspect". sad, isn't it. when asr asks her why she didn't come clean about shyam, she says all sorts of things about how it was to save his sister, his family... what nonsense our heads are filled with.
in my family, this kind of thing has happened. egregious men without conscience who've used the whole women's izzat issue have been tolerated and it has only managed to ruin more lives.
a kiss kiss to my sweet nk.
there was talk of why akash might have been a better partner for khushi.
not really. the character is too timid. too hemmed in by all sorts of social niceties, and very much the younger bhai who melds and flows, never stands apart. or out.
when he falls in love he sighs softly. when nk decides to give it a shot, he lands up with a bunch of roses middle of the night, realises later uh huh girl is taken, doesn't fall to pieces, remains straightforward and fun and strong... very khushi like and endearing and nutty and courageous. interesting observation. yes someone sure of himself would conduct himself the way NK did. also to challenge ASR. call him nannav. pull his leg a little. speaks of a strong warm character. perhaps he realizes ASR needed some teasing in his life.
nk is my sweet free radical... loving, kind, flirtatious,
goofy, but not tied down within. he speaks his mind.
really, i think we need many nks and asrs in our duniya. more asrs the merrier..hehe..
"khushi ji, hum iss ghar mein itne gande aadmi ko kabhi nahin rahne de saktein..." bravo, my babua.
but that cannot be done and khushi sets off to get the voice recording of snake saying the impossibly obscene words. a scene around which plenty effort was put in... but again, i did not connect. acting just not up to the mark. though both sanaya and abhaas tried very hard. perhaps too hard.
I was again irritated. nk said lets go to police and khushi objects. shouldn't she give it atleast some thought? she is willing to go to any lengths for him. great. but why do women have to always be so sure that their approach is impeccable.
Have missing talking about IPK so spoke a lot. Sensible take on things Indi di. It was NK that made this episode remotely bearable. I was upset after watching this episode, but as usual enjoyed reading your view.
Digressing as always.. Am watching ASR and dadi first episode.. how good is he? he is perfect... and even with dadi, when a show can get such great characterization of ASR, why couldn't they capture a perfect Khushi?
what's up.
"abhi se itna dar gaya?"
scared already?
i can feel my heart do a slow flip and a smile leaping by my lips. it is such a joy to be in the hands of an expert.
the entire episode told us many things about khushi's desperate love. somehow khsuhi and nk decided asr making shyam executor of the will means he will inherit everything. then khushi felt terribly guilty because to save herself, to convince asr, she had agreed to team up with shyam, and get his papers signed.
at last she realised shyam ain't no angel, and the papers were switched.
the whole thing of switching, one thing turning out to be another happens again and again in ipk. shyam switched papers, she will do the same, and later the diesel water switch... she herself was aswitch on that ramp that very first night they met.
i did feel the dwelling on her ghin and hating shyam went on a bit too long, going on about something does not make it more impactful.
however, in a moving bit of writing she goes to devi maiyya and confesses, it is her misguided decision that has now taken arnav ji all the way to khatra to his life.
she is horrified but then pulls herself together and along with her absolutely rock steady confidant and partner plans their next move.
she says, she does not want to prove anything any more... she just wants him to be safe.
a big step in love. letting go of something that one needs for oneself, in this case, the proof of her innocence. not many can walk away from that. yet, she does. and again a touching understanding of pyaar by writers. true
almost completing the thought will be asr's giving up of any need of any proof. he the man of reason, who does not believe in anything till it is rationally examined, he who loves with all his heart and is completely shattered by what he sees on the terrace, what is "chhap gaya hai", lets it all go... his hurt, his need for material evidence, everything... and accepts love for what it is. just that. enough in itself. no need for proof.
something poetic about her being willing to be suspected of immorality if need be but stop this hunt for evidence and his relinquishing of any need for such things, just trusting her.
yet somehow the scenes were before my eyes, never quite entering my mind.
i even felt that talk with dm, how all this happened because dm and khushi were not together, but now that dm is here, all will be well, very contrived. placed too carefully in the mix. her other conversations with dm were somehow always more charming and real and "khushi".
what was the problem? was it the words? the direction? the acting? couldn't figure out.
anjali saw shyam come out of chhotey's room. seemed happy he was given raksha dhaga by khushi though she was irritated that her husband didn't answer her call.
then mysteriously she was cold with khushi and said one should watch where one's going, why do something that one will need one to apologise for later...
clearly i was meant to read all sorts of things in the many looks and words on screen.
again, no connection.
and right at the end, for a reason i still don't quite get, khushi decided that the only way to get shyam to sign certain things would be to ask him to leave his wife.
oh so "cleverly", writers made sure she never said the damning words, achhi ladki after all, nahiiin, kitchen audience will wilt and die if heroine says such bad bad things.. so they got shyam to complete her sentences... what the.
but suddenly set in the middle of all this were a couple of minutes with arnav singh raizada and a look in the eyes, a confident smile on the lips. my senses rushed in, slamming to a connect, much like what happened when that hand on khushi's back yanked her to collide with him and stay there.
up there was the first shot of him after a frantic search by poor rocky for his quarry.
i stared when the face came into view partially. my eyes were fixed on the gaze.
something said to me, how can a man in a ridiculous vest standing in tacky sets, look so damn elegant.
i have no idea how this actor is without work for so long.
anyway, i will always have that shot... so i'll just be happy with that.
he continued his chat with the dumbfounded kidnapper.
"baad mein kya hoga jab main sach much bhag jaaonga..." what will happen later, when i really run away, he asked without raising his voice, the slightest inflection conveying a whole personality. he sounded like he'd had enough. he had been shocked initially, he had gone through a lot of physical abuse, he'd been perhaps winded for a while. but after the conversations with khushi, the meetings, the loving, after the last conversation with her and sending her his missive, he seemed to have gained strength and focus. new word. thank you.
back to being all arnav singh raizada he was.
and all of that the actor showed really in that one single shot up there. talk of nonverbal communication. actually, don't talk.
"in fact, apne boss ko aur dost logon ko inform kar do..." in fact, inform your boss and your pals...
asr music comes in smooth and powerful, pushing aside everything, loping gracefully, and inexorably.
"kal din... suraj dhalne se pahle, main yahan se nikalne wala hoon..." tomorrow before day's end, i'm going to be leaving... beautifully chosen words, i missed a couple, but that "main yahan se nikalne wala hoon"... very very casual. no big deal. almost laughing off the big bad kidnap.
and funnily when the actor says it you believe him. you also believe this is possible. our sense of disbelief, read back in communication class, must be suspended for us to believe in the story playing out on the curtain. being in a theatre environment, cut off from all "reality" sitting rapt before a large screen, helps in this.
here i am, sitting on my not too comfortable chair in my small den, traffic noise filtering in, staring at my computer and watching the scene on a 6 inch window... and i have just thought, yes, after being in captivity for many days, and being beaten, hardly eating, no bath forever, no teeth brushing and who knows what else, a man can look like that and of course, he will be leaving the next day.
in fact, i want to sing heee is leeaaving, and i am excited just looking at asr.
of course, the world doesn't need this actor. give us the pals and sons and nephews of the bosses of bollywood pillleejh... heee is leeeaving.
and i better get my binoculars, sorry "doorbin... check."
"c'mon acsson!"
a conundrum.
the document that nk and khushi found looked like a will. but the bit that had the bold illegible signature definitely did not resemble a will in any way... hai re, everyone has clearly forgotten, nand kissore is in the detail.
Very nice take indi. Indeed something terribly poetic about they both relinquishing their need for tangible proofs.. loved what you said about it..
Khushi had me completely melted at her whole hearted confession infront of DM. Her tears almost seemed to be washing her guilt of unknowingly pushing him into danger. But this moment specifically is very touching for me as Khushi admitted to her faltering..something writers never let her show about Shyam or even all her initial pushing him in his private matters. To me it didn't exactly come across as a deliberate God's play since dm is in picture now, but only Khushi's deep realization, guilt and clear vision that she wants him out without much care for anything else.
Anjali, what to say.. it always perplexed me to no end, why there were so many hints being shown thrown at anjali about her husband's duplicity and then her head decides to go completely deaf, dumb, blind to all those. She can still have some reservations with her bro and SIL after her hubby's ouster and be anguished at the whole trun of events, but not a totally foolish woman. if that was the case, then dont throw these hints at her/ us...
ASR acquired some renewed energy after finding a communication with Khushi again both in intangible and tangible worlds, one through the telepathy and the other his LG hint. he indeed found strength in/ through love.. how confidant was he while challenging he would leave before the next day dawns...
About the whole mess around the Will, you are right the second one didn't look like a will atall! In fact it had some thing about start up companies and spread sheets nothing about inhereting Millions!
thanks indi, enjoyed..
